I'd have liked to see the .45ACP included - many SpecOps folks still use it.

The much-denegrated 7.62X39 was far more impressive than the 5.56X45......

I watched the youtube vids of the 1997 Bank of America robbery in North Hollywood, and those two guys went through about 1000 rnds of 7.62x39 in 45 minutes. Bullets were going through cars and whatever people were hiding behind. I think they said the rounds were AP, but you never know about media reporting. Two guys with body armor took on the entire city police department - PDs throughout the US changed the way they work based on that one incident.

One interesting thing about the 5.56x45 in the video: I didn't see anything pass through the water barrel on the first couple shots (hard to tell from the video). This would indicate the bullets fragmented nearly completely upon entry. That doesn't help bullets pass through cars or windows, but it makes a complete mess of water-based life forms.

Oh, I don't doubt the deadliness of the Poodle Round. It just doesn't put on a 'show' like other rounds. The water barrels simply showed wee holes with it, while the 7.62X39 had them dancing!

Saw a video once on Youtube of an AQ tango stupidly kneel in the street pointing a rocket launcher at some Marines (not the brightest thing to do, if one wnats to continue living!). One Girine hosed him with a 5.56 machinegun - we could hear the buzz. Homey just sort of shook a bit, looking rather..... surprised! A couple seconds later, a second 'buzz', and the tango shakes a little more. A third buzz and some dust kicked up, and finally he falls over, kinda like the little old man on the trike in the old Laugh-in show...... Killed him, but we didn't get the satisfaction of 'red mist'........

And he never did crack off that rocket launcher...... hehehe.....

A single .50BMG woulda popped him like a zit.

No, my guy took three bursts before going over. This dude died too quickly.

A bud was on a 50 in 'Nam and said he could actually see light through a VC before he went down. Want someone down--put a load of buckshot into them--up close and personal.

As the 5.45 yawls rather than fragments it was probably the video. The exception would be at close range where the steel jacket may fragment same as the East German 7.62N with a steel jacket will fragment.

    Melbo posted Fackler's report here:

There is an example of East German 7.62N in the Patterns of Military Bullets Fackler pdf. FWIW, any steel jacketed 7.62N will do the same thing. ;)
