Just got woke up by Choppers flying low in transit to someplace. Wish they would use the Hwys as a transit lane instead of of the towns as beacons. Fort Wolter used to fly all night long and we were one of their Check Off spots for Solo Flights. Back to sleep.
I get them daily .Lots of cross traffic going to and from the marine base and a private airport. Strange thing is almost every where I've lived in California I've had had lots of air traffic over head even I the middle of the desert in some pretty obscure places . some so close to the ground you could see the rivets .
While Hiking at 4000 feet in Hawaii on the big island a Electric Utilities Chopper came over. We heard the PA system first. It seems they shoot at choppers looking for weed growers so the Electric line inspectors announce their presences first.
I live a very short distance from the run in heading for the N/S runway at the local air base. The main run in heading (E/W) for the local GA runway passes in front of my house. Every day is an Airshow.
Very Likely, heading for the southern Boarder, to support the 15K Troops setting up for the Hondurans...
They was real close and I came wide awake but not soon enough to catch a look. Dog swore it was a Tornado.
BT may be right. We usually get quiet a bit of chopper traffic 24/6 but it's been really quiet the last few days.
Loud blade vortex slap is the worst from a Coaxial rotor Russian fling wing . The quietest is the MD600 plus
