People who have used 23andMe and are concerned about what might happen to their data in a sale have options: They can download their information then delete their account, as well as ask the company to discard their DNA material in addition to deleting the data. Doing so will keep DNA information from being used in future research, but it can't be removed from research that has already been done.

 

My sister did that, which means my DNA is close. I'll forward your info on to her.

 

I always figured it was a .gov physop to get everyone's DNA on record anyway .

 

Getting them to delete the data is one thing but where is *Your* sample, If they had mine I would never have any confidence that they destroyed it.

 

I have never knowingly given my dna to anyone... VA been asking for it for awhile now for a program they claim there doing... NOPE

 

Can't they get it from your blood??

 

Better read the user agreement.
I would be shocked if deleting your account really deleted your information.
