Happy Thanksgiving to all Survival Monkeys!! Each person adds to make SM such a special place. Thank you to @melbo for creating a place where we all can gather and share. I am thankful to my monkey family who have laughed with me, shared ideas and some even listened to my tears. Thank you. I am very blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. I am so thankful for my boys. They keep me young at heart laughing. I truly am blessed to have two boys that love their Mama. Our good health and solid employment, for that we are thankful. We have a home and food, realizing how fortunate we are. Please, if you choose to share what you are thankful for or blessing that have occurred this year. This is also a thread to share you feasting plans or if you just plan on quietly spend the day alone watching movies. It is a time to give thanks for not only the big things but the little things that make our lives special.
I Thankful that: I still have all my children to talk to. The grandkinder are the bonus of all bonuses. My loving wife is still my best friend. I have a job that is both 'fun' and a changeling. Being blessed to live in a free country where I can - for the most part - live as I wish. That's a lot to be thankful for....
I am thankful for my friends and family... And am glad that I have a job that I enjoy. I'm thankful for my best friend and wife, who not only continues to put up with me, but stands beside me in support of all I do. I'm thankful for the two best kids that anyone would be proud to call their own. To say I would go to hell and back for them would be a gross understatement. Im thankful to my God for all he has blessed us with, a along with the knowledge and strength he give me daily to provide and care for my family. Last but certainly not least, I'm thankful to be part of a great family here at the Monkey.
I thank God every day for the rest i get and for those I care of which are many, some here as well . Every day another adventure God intervenes for me, and as I recognize it, endeavor to return thanks . Dad taught me an important lesson through observing him . Most men when they injure them self alert out some profanity , which does nothing but seek the pity of listeners . but when dad had such accidents he said, "Praise the Lord " and working in construction this was extraordinary . One event in which they were al in a rush to beat the cement truck getting forms set ,he had loaned out all his hammers to other workers whom came unprepared so the last tool he had was a roofing hatchet with a waffle head . While driving a stake in some one distracted his attention and he came down with his thumb on top of the stake when the hammer came down. he dropped the hammer and put his thumb in his right hand and began saying Praise the Lord , Praise the Lord . The contractor begged him to see the damage of which dad was sure it was serious ,but finally dad conceded and opened his hand to see there was no damage to his thumb and the pain was gone . Not that using words manipulated this situation but dad's love for God and his living testimony , demonstrated his faith. Through out my life time I have experienced many such event of God's intervention especially in events men usually are cursing God, or taking His name in vain . I praise God and thank Him regardless of what things look like because He can change things.
I have so many reasons to be thankful, but the highlights are: Mom is still with us, fighting hard to be there just one more Holiday to hold and hug her Grand Babies! Thankful to my Lovely Bride who has to put up with me and all that I bring, and despite all that, still loves me, and I her, more then ever! My two sons who are serving, my oldest in the Corps, my youngest in the Coast Guard, both will be missed during the holidays this year. My good friend who survived a horrible plane crash is alive and healing and whole, and though his road is long and painful, the blessings become more important when we think about how short life is, and how fragile we humans actually are! Happy Holidays to one and All!
He is messed up, and will be in the hospital for several more weeks, damn lucky says me! IF he ever walks normally it will be a major medical accomplishment! Still, He is alive, the rest can be dealt with in time!
I'm not to much into the Holiday things never have been but I am Thankful for my Life my wife and my children and grandchildren. I'm thankful to be free and live as I choose. I am thankful to have been brought up in a diverse society I see an man or woman for who they are good or bad. I'm thankful to be able to love or hate the ruling class without the threat to life or limb????? not so sure anymore. I am thankful for this time and place though it's already passed And I am thankful to know you all not as well as I should but that's on me So have a great Holiday season and enjoy it all as you can or how you want I shall endeavour to be better
Well, Just want to echo what others here have stated. Good friends,Great family for the most part. Mom is still with us,For how long we don't know,3rd.stage colon cancer she is fighting. AND the best food in the country!!!! Pray for the best and fight the worst.
I'm thankful for my friends and family. Some came into my life and some left but I am glad for the experience. My wife is still cancer free going on 9 years now. That Boogeyman still hides in the back of my head. I didn't die and the heart surgery worked perfectly. I wasn't worried about dying but I sure didn't want to keep feeling bad or becoming worse. My ballsy plan to become an automation programmer after a career millwright worked out great. I'm thankful for that. My wife secured a dream job starting January 2. We've been hurting and that will help a lot and enable us to rebuild some financial and material reserves.
