I just called the importer for Germany, and had an interesting conversation with one of their bosses. 1, The L1A1's were made by ROF Enfield and sent to the Falkland Islands during or just after the war in 1982. 2, They have been sat in the wooden crates ever since they left the factory. 3, LUXDEFTEC have had to make a few alterations to them to make them legal to own in Germany. Bayonet lug removal, I'll let you know more when I have one. 4, Thats it I'm definitely having one. Tony
I was at the IWA in Nuremberg at the weekend and got to have a good look at the L1A1's that will be on the market in the near future, and I wasn't impressed with what I saw, they haven't hit the dealerships as of yet, so I can only assume that the examples that I saw at the distributors stand were what LUXDEFTEC had ready. The furniture looked like they had been through the jungles of Borneo and they were not fitted flush, they have re-designed the bolt, and fitted new barrels and removed the bayonet lug. Not to mention the barrel looked like it wasn't straight . I'm having second thoughts. I guess I'll just have to wait for them to hit the stores, and decide what to do then. Tony
an sar48 match imbel made brand new imported by springfield armory back in the 80's and early 90's .. these rifles are the last factory licensed made copies of the belgian made fn-fal ..shot great but i traded it for crossman 760 bb gun and a pint of bbs copperheads .and a slingshot .. but the rubberband broke any one know a good slingshot repair man ..
toemag back in 94 i came across a arge made fal .. for $600.00 us .. the metal was perfect in a none fired way .. the dealer let me break it down .. type 3 reciaver .. open ear front site 21 in barral .. hump back rear stock ..para rear site and para bolt ..front hand guards where the worse made plastict iv ever seen ..but for $600.00 it was a steal .. it was an early armscorp import ..one of the few they got into the usa .. had the rifle all paid for but something came up and i realy needed the money had to pass on it ..
Sorry to hear that. I'm still waiting and sort of just only peripherally still interested in buying one, €1,600. The fact that LUXDEFTEC have taken so long getting them ready is like trying to sleep while the alarm clock is screaming at you to get up. I just don't believe that things went as well as they thought they would, and the price for a re-engineered barrel and bolt, classic. Have to wait and see, guess that'll teach me to buy green bananas. Tony
Very nice Con, you should drive around in the GTO with the barrel sticking out, teach the west coast how a drive by is really done.
That's funny EL.... I traded my AR15 M4 carbine for the G1......I like AR's enough, but I really like the .308 a lot more than the .223 and I have plenty of .308 brass to load up. Unfortunately I had to trade the GTO for a newer vehicle for my wife to drive as I didn't want to end up with 2 rig payments.....she got a 2000 Dodge Quad Cab 3/4 ton 4x4 short box pickup out of the deal though. But I could use my 99 Supercharged Toyota 4Runner as my assault vehicle though with the moon roof as the preferred setup spot.....
Nice rig, looks like it would be a great off-road SUV, and a great bug out/get the hell out of town rig too. I like that bumper with the Warn in it.
Here's my L1A1. Conagher helped me de-Clintonize it by donating some parts: My L1A1 picture by the_g_man - Photobucket This poor bastard used to be wearing one of those damned planet of the apes looking thumb-hole stocks. I think it looks far better now.
I like the izzie HB w armscor type 3 receiver. they made theirs a little thicker thru the mag well area .. the Imbel sar 4800 match is nice too..... but I must confess I shoot my 1919 way more..
Step son has an inch pattern that he doesn't know a thing about. Can't seem to catch on to how to operate and shoot it well. He lets me play with it a lot...... (grin) Actually, it functions and shoot like a dream... Only change I would like to make is to install a smaller aperture insert in the rear site blade. Anyone ever done this ? What thread is on the OD of a Williams 0.050" ID aperture ? Appreciate help for a newby Thanks Wyo
OK I got one of the L1A1 in a box in pieces for some work I did ,it had a century lower and I ran a tap through it now the barrel fits . I know I'm missing some small parts ,like the mag catch and the bolt pin. If anybody knows where I might find said parts I'd be grateful . Also in the box was some inch mags that won't fit ,so if anybody needs them let me know.
This is not my rifle, but the same model I had to sell because of a divorce. The Para takes less energy to cycle and is more reliable IMHO. I miss that rifle so much. Springfield Armory SAR 48
OMG txswfan, that FAL is outfitted more than the Cabela's catalog, but it's awesome. How many decibels does that suppresor knock it down?
