A 1930 something Alice Chamers tractor with a 2 bottom plow, tow baw and wheel weights and when I get up north to pick them up a rear blade and disk. I had it running for a few minutes then it died from no gas and the battery died. It has the crank for the front but dont see that happening especialy untill its in excelent running order. Tractors dont hand crank real easy. lol

Canning and dehydrating like mad for winter. Was given some NZW bucks for the freezer, and one of our does just had seven popples, so at least we'll have a little meat in the freezer that Uncle Sam can't/didn't tax the hell out of!

50# of black beans. Already put away 50# of lentils.

Nothing put away this week; however, I did add two books to the library:

"S.A.S. Survival Handbook" John "Lofty" Wiseman

    and

"How to Stay Alive in the Woods" Bradford Angier

Also picking up a new AR-15 sometime this month.

It has been a slow week.

A woman’s macramé belt made from cotton cord. Ended up with 14 ¼
    yards of candle wick. $1.59

A multi tool with pouch $3.00. Photo

4 pairs 0-3 months and 1 pair 3-6 months underpants. $0.10 each. They are made to go over a diaper but with out the diaper they will fit a 12-16 month old baby. Remember seeing the bare bottomed babies after hurricane katrina because there were no diapers to be had.

1 8 Oz bottle of Hydrogen peroxide $0.99

A Laerdal CPR pocket mask unused $1.00

    = $7.08

Got my propane adapter in for the generator. Once it's installed I will have a tri-fuel generator (gas, LPG, or NG). I' report back on how the conversion goes.

Also got a case of .30-30 rounds and bullets for reloading said brass after it it shot :)

A Coleman 413 camp stove. I traded a rusty cast-iron sink that I found in a dumpster for it. I have 10 now. Trade stock.

A stainless steel steamer pot with lid, the kind that you see in restaurants in the steamer table with soup in them. $1.00[stirpot]

A large unused kerosene lamp less chimney. $1.99
A kerosene lamp with chimney. $4.00 The burner/wick holder has an adapter on it that lets you use a canning jar as the fount, it came with a canning jar. 23 lamps and lanterns now. Trade stock.

A pair of suspenders with gray wolves on them. $0.59

A wide thick white restraint belt with buckle. $0.59 I have been looking for one to hang the white web gear pouches I am making for winter use.

I found my good/best can not buy then any more drum brake install/removal
    Pliers
My neighbor[sheep] borrowed them 2 years ago, I found them in his trash can in the alley.

A Moonlight NV-100 1+ generation night vision monocular. In the box with all of the paperwork and packing, works. Good clear image but has 2 black spots the size of a flee. $25.00

A old unused metal wax paper dispenser with a roll of un wrapped wax paper. $0.99. I am in charge of childcare for the shoot that my range has coming up so I needed something to cover the diaper changing table with.

A singer treadle sewing machine base. Free I found it in the trash. This not the heavy cast-iron kind but the lighter stamped steel kind. You can use them to power all kinds of thing like scroll saws, lathes, table saws and pumps. Use it to spin a big enough flywheel and you got power.

A Voit twin snorkle mask with papers but without the box, does not look like it has ever been used. $0.79 You never know when sneak up on someone that has setup by the water.[camo]

A stack of table saw blades. Free I traded 2 of the plates railroad tracks set on for them.

"Putting away" has slowed way down here. (Getting ready to move and have too much 'put away' already ;))

*+*Eight 'hands' of tobacco, compliments of a local farm group (given out free during the local fair this weekend). I don't smoke (except for an occasional pipe of mixed herbals - not 'herb'!) but husband does - and it might just make nice bartering fodder.

*+*Arranged a future swap with MO Titmouse - she needs a buck rabbit, and in return we'll get one of his daughters when ready. She'll be totally unrelated to our fledgling herd, and Titmouse will have a buck to grow meat again! (We were given eight of butchering size a couple weeks ago. One is being kept back as a secondary buck, one is going to friends/neighbors, and one to Titmouse. The rest are destined for fricasse!)

*+*Two more big boxes of 'kitchen' matches.

*+*Ten gallon LP hot water heater salvaged from an old camper. Hopefully it works. It'll be our primary shower heater for a bit - then set back for emergencies. If it doesn't work, it goes to the scrap yard to be turned into $ for a replacement!

*+*Neighbor says she's keeping a 'few' gallons (2 or 3, I think) of homemade wine for me until we move. She makes kick ass wine, so I am SO excited to hear she has some "Falcon Reserve". (She also made a couple gallons of black cherry vinegar for us. That will be set aside and come in handy later.)

*+*Continuing to preserve and dehydrate garden produce. That is one of the ultimate "putting away" chores.

***Looking for a working treadle sewing machine. Doesn't have to be pretty, just in decent working order with at least one bobbin (I can replace the belt). If anyone should happen to see one up for grabs, please let me know. (Super tight budget, yadayada ;))

10 pounds of milk chocolate discs in airtight, hopefully rodent-proof packaging. Chocolate lasts pretty much forever.

  17. FalconDance

    FalconDance Neighborhood Witch

Beware, Quiet One - milk chocolate does NOT last a long time due to its other-than-chocolate contents. Your best bet for long-term or even mid-range storage is dark cocoa powder.

I've seen a Hershey bar sit for a year on a shelf and still be edible. But thanks for the advice.

(*snortle* Of course, grocery store candy is who-knows-how-old!)
