I had a S&W 686 that was a former U.S. Customs pistol. I once used it to put a deer down with. It was a really sweet Smith. Well balanced, really nice trigger. I still have a couple of revolvers left. For the most part though I am an auto guy.
Gee, I have one just like it. The S&W 686 CS-1 is a sweet revolver and I am glad I got it back from you. As soon as I sold it to you I started missing it. Hopefully it is here to stay now.
I have only had a couple of wheel guns over the years.I am more a semi-auto guy. When the domestic oil business crashed in the 80's I did a brief stint in local law enforcement. You had to provide your own weapon and .357 revolvers were pretty much the standard.I bought a Ruger Security Six and would have to say that it is probably my favorite of all the ones I've owned or shot.I wish I still had it.Times were hard for an oilman back then and later on I wound up having to sell it.
Ruger Blackhawk w/ 4 & 5/8ths inch barrel in .45LC. Balance is just right, and I could shoot it all day long. Ammo is expensive, and it would not be my choice for CCW, but it is fun to shoot. Phishi
I've always loved my S&W M66, but last year I bought a Ruger .454 Casull and then a S&W M629 44Mag. I really love the 629 - I reload and can hit anything with that gun. I will probably get rid of the Ruger because the 629 is so fun to shoot.
For GP mine would be the old S&W .357 highway patrolman thats on the (K?) frame for the .44, especialy set up like my dads with grips that have a laser site built into them thats not even noticeable but has the tiny switch on the bottom and then the pressure switch on the front of the grip. For CCW it would be the older modle S&W .38 spcl chiefs special. I tend to prefer wheel guns as I despise jams and would never want to count on an auto that COULD jam when I need it, where as I have NEVER had a wheel gun jam.
Thank you... Really and truly need to take it out and break it in. Would you believe it barely has any cylinder wear? Wonder what he want's for the .41 caliber never fired in box (even though the felt in the box is falling apart). Hmmm.... No I don't need a .41 caliber S&W revolver...ah who cares - it's pretty.
Ruger Single Six for fun. Ruger GP 100 4" for serious work. Too big for summer carry, but works well in jacket weather. Only people who know how skinny I really am realize it ain't all me under the jacket. I like the 158 gr full house loads, but use 125 for carry, LOTS more controllable, and regularly more accurate in my hands.
I'd say either my S$W .22LR or one of the .357s I 'early inherited' from Dad He was a big S&W collector in the 70s
I have a Colt SA Clone in 45LC, with a 5 1/2 inch barrel. Balance on me is better than anything else I've handled (which isn't saying much).
