"HIBICLENS® the antimicrobial, antiseptic skin cleanser can be part of an effective defense for preventing the spread of MRSA."

I use a lot of hand sanitizers, not to mention industrial strength hand sanitizers in my plants each day, but I had not heard of Hibiclens.

After more than one bout with MRSA, the hospital told me about it, and I have it at each sink in the house and at work....There are also towelettes called Hibistat and I have them in my purse all the time...Hand sanitizers work but only for the moment you are using them...Hibiclens, and Hibistat, bond to the skin providing residual activity in killing the germs...Staph can live for way way longer than they thought on sheets, towels, etc....and passed on to other family members, and/or guests, co workers, etc...
I handle money every day, and constantly wash my hands....

I've had to learn way more than I ever wanted to about Staph...

    dang it.

I totally understand the need to sanitize, don't get me wrong. But I find it rather amusing that most people forget the reason we have a lot of these cursedly bad "new" bugs now is our increasing use of anti-bacterial everythings which encourage accelerated mutation in already adept-at-mutation bugs!

Not quite a 'chicken or egg' scenario but definitely a 'we are our own worst enemy' one!

Yep...a lot of people over sanitize, and never develop any resistance to bacteria....

I had never heard of MRSA the first time I had it and was misdiagnosed repeatedly.....

Mine was something sooooooooo stupid....I had an open cut and hugged a friend at a tailgate at a concert...and he was AMA from the hospital ...( a fact I didn't know...but it probably wouldn't have stopped me from hugging him..he's been a good buddy for a long time..) Anyway, he had Staph and it went right in to the open scratch on me...

Funny, because being a nurse I was never one to overuse antibiotics, or ask the Dr for them....I understood the difference between a Viral and a Bacterial infection...and what the drugs were for. I did wash my hands more than the average person but that's about it...

Oh well, now I just deal with it...and am more careful these days..

I don't sanitize anymore. I lick my hands after every handshake and I now eat my own excrement to make sure that I have all the antibodies necessary to live a long and full life.

    Cheers!

It's hot in S.F. The world is ending. Haha. Strange that it is so hot here. I've been here almost three years and haven't seen it getting this hot before. Something's out of whack. It's glob-al worming. Haha.

Well RC I think I would take that 125 because from what I remember of Deserts, is that they are Dry heat. This here is Hot muggy, and crappy. I can take dry heat waaayyyy better.

I'll be in the sand soon. I much prefer the heat to the cold. Just have to keep making myself stay hydrated.

I have lived in Florida with it's muggy heat, along with the dry heat of the Middle East, all I can say is I would rather put up with the high humidity that that blast furnace of Iraq.
