Hey EL, what's the price on the Ruger 556? I would recommend the 556 over the MAC any day. Ciener kit available, still factory serviced by Ruger and 223 over 9mm, no comparison.

The one above is $6500. 223 is higher than 9mm, and the Ruger cost about twice as much as a MAC. 9mm is also usually quieter suppressed. Not to mention that the MAC mags can be had very cheap, unlike the Ruger mags. You can also buy 72 rd. drums for the MAC. With the GAGE upper conversion on the MAC you have a solid SMG that wins a lot of SMG matches over MP-5s. In it's stock form the MAC is pretty much a "bullet hose" but the upper conversion slows the cyclic rate down to about 600 rpm from about 1050 (if memory serves me correct). Making the receiver longer also makes it more controllable, more accurate and it fires more like a rifle than a pistol. I do like the Ruger 556, but I would have to come across a steal on one to buy it. Right now I am leaning towards buying a MAC when I find the perfect deal, but I am in no hurry as my suppressor will come first.
My preference for the Ruger over the MAC is mainly to use it for a survival / assault rifle and not a match gun, maybe I posted my comment on the wrong thread. If you are mainly looking for a suppressed weapon to use in matches I would not recommend the Ruger, but if you want something not suppressed that can be used in matches, take animals up to elk size and bad guys, then I would. Beta C-Mags, 22 kits, and the semi/3 shot/full selector make it a great MG for the price.
