Those are actually paragliders. They are mostly foot launched from a high hill or cliff or can be towed aloft with the general intent of soaring. They differ significantly from parachutes in they are not designed to handle the opening shock during a free fall experienced when deploying from an airplane. They are identifiable due to the much higher aspect ratio of the ram air inflated wing. They can be flown with a backpack motor for self launching.

 

I've reached that almost tax day, paid the garbage man on time, roofers are measuring, medical appointments all scheduled, package store has my order waiting in a cart every Thursday, fell asleep before the sun set, kind of tired.

 

I watched about ten minutes of that show (Letterkenny) at the kids house because That Woman said it reminds her of where we grew up. Couldn't understand a word of what they were saying. Didn't realize Canadian was a foreign language until then.

 

Seventeen for me. That includes two motorcycles.

 

I'm well over forty, probably closer to sixty. I had 31 cars in three years overseas. I have six... no, seven cars now, including one on a trailer and don't own a truck at the moment to pull it with. Of all of them I've only ever bought one new. Worst car I ever owned. Kids shot out a window and it became a comfortable residence for a huge orange tomcat until I scrapped it.

 

The kids asked if I wanted to go to a renaissance faire. I think it'd be fun, just to watch one of the kids they grew up with, who's 6' 7" and 400 pounds swat attackers and bounce little men off his shield. I could pass for Gandalf, but I don't want to play.

 

Doesn't leave an impression like "Death on the Highway" by the Ohio State Patrol. Something about seeing human bodies folded up in car door jambs really leaves a lasting memory.
