Geez people. Trump has been in for weeks, not years. He knows how to play the long game very well and frankly surprised me with his restraint on tariffs. As countries see their cash being reduced by these tariffs most will come to the table to renegotiate a deal. I still have full faith in the man and kinda see what he is doing. Things are already better than when he took office. I have not even looked at my meager stock holdings or my 401k because I am not invested for tomorrow but for a few years from now. I think we won't see a civil war, but I don't rule out another country attacking us when they find themselves broke. It may be what we need actually. Think back to 9/11: Except for a few crazy ragheads there wasn't an unpatriotic American to be found. Black, white, gay, straight, rich and poor all pulled together either in action or spirit to go decimate our new enemy. We're like a family here, fighting amongst ourselves but the rest of the world better stay out of it. That small percentage of "woke" will quickly dissolve when they see everyone else isn't paying them any attention. What Hitler pulled off in 1920's Germany couldn't work today if for no other reason than the internet. People now have access to current events and world affairs in mere seconds, not the weeks it took news to travel back then. Hitler told the people what they wanted to hear with no fact-checking and very little cynicism. He used the Brown Shirts to beat the shit out of any high profile detractors, something only Hillary could pull off these days. (maybe)
You guys do realize the push-back on tariffs is run by the CIA, right? Every Leftist media outlet, CIA. All of the social media outlets are dominated by Leftists and their bots, except maybe 'X'. Every talk show with Leftists, CIA. Every radio station owned by Leftists, CIA. This entire time people have been thinking this is all organic...it isn't. The average American is so dumbed down, so incredibly stupid they will believe almost anything they hear through the news, radio, and social media. "Are tariffs going to...like...raise prices and stuff?" And the CIA would very much like to cause a panic with the Stock Market to drive this whole agenda into the closet and get back to pillaging America.
After WW1, German society in a shambles, wealth and power had been largely destroyed, so just about anybody could rise to the top. Hitler promised to restore their national pride, economy and social fabric. They were on their knees and Hitler delivered results, and they didn't worry too much about how he did it. Can you really say that you would do any differently? Could I? Hitler was more charismatic than Jesus Christ! His speeches made strong men cry and women faint. To fully understand the power of his personality, you would need to be a German citizen of the Weimar Republic and German would need to be you first language. Also remember, when Hitler was talking about the non-Germans (aka sub-humans), he was preaching to the choir.
Had a friend who was a refugee from Germany and who had escaped as a child in 1936 with his mother. Most of the rest of his extended family had been killed in the purges. He said that he had set down and watched the film on the Nuremberg ralley and found that after about an hour, he was getting caught up in it and becoming part of the mass and would have been shouting and cheering if he had been there. This in spite of knowing where it lead to and what happened to his own family. He was a native German speaker but he was raised in the US. He was sure that the impact would have been even greater on young German s who were living in the chaos that existed at that time.
Read an account of a German man that went to one of Hitler's early rallies. He said that speech made him proud to be a German, angry at how Germany had been treated, and terrified to be a Jew! He got the hell out of Germany and went to Canada. He said that most Jews wanted to go to Great Britain or the United States, but that places like Canada, Australia, etc. needed people and were easier to get into. Years later, he went back to Germany as part of the Canadian Army.
@Tempstar "What Hitler pulled off in 1920's Germany couldn't work today if for no other reason than the internet. People now have access to current events and world affairs in mere seconds..." BINGO! It also gives them access to alternative opinions in almost real time...if the government allows it (reference to Covid). There is so much to unpack concerning Germany and Hitler's rise it's hard to get one's arms around it. It certainly wasn't black and white, and it certainly wasn't what historians like to point to one or two things. It was an avalanche of things, most all happening at the same time. Plus, the ground was very fertile for these happenings. Germany was devastated as her people had fought a two-front war to stalemate, lost 2+ million soldiers, won in the East and caused the fall of Russian monarchy (also fertile ground for change), suffered 4 years of starvation due to the blockade, civilian deaths ~1 million, on and on and on...it's hard to really understand what they went through - yet - they did it. It's actually remarkable but they are a remarkable people. They were a proud and nationalistic people who loved their country, did their duty, and woke up one morning to find it all was for nothing. Nothing. They were defeated and did not even know it. They had lost. They had been told they were winning, they believed they were winning, their own soldiers said they were winning and not defeated (Ludendorff and Hindenburg) ... Had their own government betrayed them, 'stabbed them in the back' lead by corrupt politicians, self-centered bureaucrats, and those damn communists, socialists...and Jews? (Jews did control a huge portion of the Germany economy, banking, film, etc., you name it) Versailles made a horrible post war condition even worse - yet - they started to recover much due to loans from the good old USA then...the stock market crash, the USA had to recall their loans, the world economy spiraled downwards with Germany leading the way and falling the farthest due war reparations...and Hitler made his name due much to the advance in film and radio. He said what people wanted to hear and wanted to believe and after he came to power, he improved the country and their lives greatly, gave them back self-respect, self-worth and as time went on and he continued to succeed and so...yeah, they believed in him and followed him right off the cliff. Personally, I think he went insane more and more as time went on and started believing his own tripe. This is not unusual, Napolean, Caesar, etc. loads of other dictators did the same...
Hitler was under his personal doctor's care who gave him drugs to sleep- drugs to wake up and he became more and more erratic and delusional as time went on. In a way I guess we were lucky if he had not been drugged he may have not opened the campaign against Stalin and which lead thankfully to his down fall.
We are well on our way to a CBDC, UBI and price controls. We are going to be shopping with our books of ration stamps at soviet grocery stores and we will love it. You are going to love the collective society that starts in about 5 years in the next Administration.
There was going to be a war between Germany and the USSR! Stalin was shocked, shocked I say, that Hitler attacked first and caught the Red Army with their pants down!
