I had a bike wreck one time,,barefooted, ,, scraped the skin off from the top of my toes to the knee ,,, I was expecting, and regretting that mercurichrome or thialaite ,,, instead grandpa broke out a gallon of kerosene ,, poured it down my whole leg ,, I tensed up , expecting the burn ,, but it was cool and soothing,,, not sure what that did ,, but it still scabbed up , and hurt like hell bending the knee and that skin stretching ..

 

Especially in the Trudope Regime!

 

I remember something called gummed spirits of turpentine.
Hurt like hell. But sure helped to heal up quickly.
