Typical weakness.... Start and then quit. The last three weeks at work were fast, furious and stressful, so I would come home completely exhausted and really need a Bourbon to make the world go away.

So the last week, the wife and I have had some serious conversations and we are "just done" with the way we are living. We both work a 4 day week, with Friday's off and have Monday off, since it is President's Day. This is the 4 Day Weekend we needed to jump-start something new.....

Thursday was day #1 on a Carnivore Diet. Yep, I went from sugar, carbs and liquor to nothing. Just a cold, hard stop.

Friday morning is day #2 and I am tired and weak. Thankfully no headaches. I woke up at 3:45am starving hungry. Made coffee at 4:30 and at 7am I ate four eggs and two pieces of bacon. It was steak and a brat for lunch. Dinner was a buffet, as we just wanted to try different things that I cooked on the pellet grill.... Salmon, Shrimp and Pork Chops.

This morning was a Fritatta of only eggs and bacon. Lunch was smoked, grilled chicken breast. Tonight I made two 8 oz hamburger patties, but mixed in three, thick slices of bacon that was diced up and mixed in with the patty. (wow awesome)

Anyway, day 3 is better than day 2. Tomorrow I will do more work around the house and see how my energy levels do.

Day 1 was Thursday, February 13. On that morning I weighed 271.3 lbs and my Blood Pressure was 169/99. The first week involved no exercise, other than walking around our jobs, which can be as high as 7-8k steps. Twice in the last 7 days I did 2MAD, and will stay with 2MAD going forward, which is Breakfast and Dinner. But dinner will be as close to 4pm as possible and zero snacks, certainly nothing after dinner until I get to Breakfast.

Week 1 has ended with me at 260.1 lbs, a drop of 11.2 lbs, which is mostly water weight. Even more exciting, my blood pressure has dropped to 131/90.

02/20/25: 260.1 lbs, 131/90 bp (11.2 lbs lost), probably a lot of intestinal clearing and water weight loss.

    2/27/25: 254.9 lbs, 137/82 bp (5.2 lbs lost, 16.4 lbs total)

I was so excited to step on the scales this morning to see where I was after 14 days on Carnivore. My goal is 3.5 lbs of loss per week, understanding there may be a week here or there where I only loose 1-2 lbs, especially as I get closer to my target weight.

14 days done and 76 days left to go. (April 29 will be 90 days)

Have an exciting plan for this coming week. After reading more about the benefits of fasting, I'm going to do two fasts. The first will be a 36 hour Fast, Saturday 6pm to Monday morning at 6am. Then a 48 hour fast from Tuesday 6pm to Thursday 6pm. I view these as my first steps to get to a 72 hour fast, which I will do the week of March the 10th. The desire to fast has nothing to do with weight loss, but a desire to get in to autophagy. I spent so many years drinking alcohol and eating very poorly, I would like to rid my body of damages.

You know, I am really settling down in regard to evil desires. I haven't even thought about Whiskey in a week and it is only occasionally that I have a thought of something with sugar. Funny, but yesterday, upon getting home from work, wrapping up an OMAD.... I walked in the pantry and had such a desire for a handful of salty peanuts. funny

Sleep continues to seem to be an issue. I say "seems", as I am functioning throughout the day at work. But last night I was asleep by 9:30, but woke up at 3:20am wide eyed. I just wonder.... On Carnivore, is my new norm going to be 6 hours of sleep?

Yesterday..... no other word than HELL. It was a mental breakdown.

You see, I have a four day work-week and Thursday is my Friday. I've had this job for the past four years and my MO was to get off work on Thursday with a big ole smile on my face and great anticipation!!!! I would rush home and the very first thing I would do is pour myself a Bourbon and Coke. Five to six glasses later, I was the life of the party.

To make it worse yesterday, I had to leave work early to meet a contractor at my house. By 2pm, just hanging around the house, waiting for the contractors work to finish, I was truly having a mental breakdown and twice I walked into the pantry, looked at the 1.75 of Evan Williams Whisky and nearly grabbed it and a can of Coke. (Yes, those two things are still in my house. I did not throw them away like I did the cookies, bags of chips and candy.)

My first effort to resist was to cut myself a piece of smoked Gouda Cheese and begin nibbling on it. When that did nothing for me, I opened the container of Pork Skins and started eating. Still.... no relief. I walked back in the pantry and stared at ole Evan.....

The good news.... I successfully resisted. Ended up grilling a hamburger patty with bacon and cheese for dinner and went to bed early, sipping on a bottle of Topo Chico Sparkling Water.

I'll say it out loud..... There is nothing fun about Carnivore. It is punishment. Yesterday I wanted fun.... and I wanted the fun that comes in a bottle.

This morning I feel like I won. I over-came. And.... I don't have a debilitating hangover this morning.

    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

Keep roughing through. Carnivore was too hard looking for me.

I'm much more Ketovore-ish in my practice after a year. At 100 pounds down I really didn't want the cheat meal of a Texas sized chicken fried steak covered in beef enchiladas that had pulled me through the dark times.

Ugh.... I dream of something like that .... but 73 more days to go until I move to KETO with one cheat day a week.
