Thats cool, but have any of you stored rubber bands for a couple months? Very quickly they get dry and crack and fail. I wonder if there is another solution, eliminating the rubber bands for something more durable. Maybe I am missing the point that this is a bow for survival, made and used for a few days to be discarded.
I like the ingenuity of the bow, and the simplicity of its manufacture, and its use of found materials (excepting the rubber bands). @Jerry Fisk @mtnrider I think surgical tubing may have more durability, especially if protected from UV exposure when not in use. Another possibly more durable means of temporary storage of energy would be to substitute helical tension / extension springs for the rubber bands on the cantilever arms of the bow. helical tension / extension springs have been used on other bow designs....
