    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

I'm not sure at all deleting or backrooming any of these posts will slow down a government grade technician looking for anything ever posted here - ever.

I do believe it is possible tactically, but I doubt it is possible to be a Gray-man strategically anymore with all the algorithms going on these days.

But yeah, I like the idea of backrooms to keep a bunch of community level Karens and activists the from doing research at the small scale.

Agreed. And I have plans. ;)
I didn't want to share everything, you know.

I'm looking at the crap going on in France and Brazil - and their far-Left governments going full on nuts if you don't toe their approved line.

It is almost that bad here.

I'm kind of on the fence here as far as what to do about these divisive political threads!
Maybe break them down into sub sections, some get "Cleaned" every 15 days, some don't get anything at all.
It would be a little extra work for staff to keep track of, and to act as needed, but I don't really see a down side to this.

I do agree, we need to be able to converse back and forth, even on highly charged, high magnitude topics, and Pruning might make the most sense, if nothing else but to make it as hard on the feebs as possible. However, Reality says don't bother, if big brother feeb wants it bad enough, they can pour whatever effort into it that it takes to crack it and it wouldn't matter what security we choose to use!

I completely agree about personal security, that ANYTHING posted is subject to be used against us by anyone with the abilities to access and disseminate it, we are already seeing this in Canuck Land and Enga land! They will arrest you and toss you in the clink for anything you post that "THEY" don't like! And I fully believe that can happen here, thanks Obammy

Might be easier to delete any personally identifiable information from membership. Keep the person’s login/hashed password, and delete everything else.

If we do it this way, then the mods will get called out for censorship. A blanket purge of threads at 30 days couldn't be construed as censorship or favoritism.

Its a shame we have to be like this. What happened to land of the free?
That being said I am good with this in today’s political climate.

It appears some members are coming out to poke at us, so here's the chance to cite specifics about how you cannot get through another day without the political forum at Survivalmonkey. Remember, I only soft-deleted with the OPSEC clean, and since then, I've not had one request to restore a particular thread. I can still restore any particular thread to this political forum at any time.

In the last few days, we've been accused of censorship, of deleting members threads without their consent, when nothing of the sort has happened. The only time a full thread deletion happens is with a certain problematic member we cannot ban, who has been banned multiple times over -permanently, but due to a forum bug he keeps reappearing. And of course, there is this political forum...which by every right I ought to delete entirely. It sickens me to see how divided this country has become. We shouldn't welcome this divisiveness here, too. Before our primary Admin, Ghrit departed, he gave the thumbs up to commence with a deletion of the political forum. This had been discussed for a very long time between staff, back when there were more of us. I'm sorry to report that our numbers are waning, but it is true. And it's getting harder and harder to make time to police this place. I cannot speak for everyone on the staff, but I have never accepted a single Cent to do the work I have done.

But here we are. And for the most part, outside one account, we are mostly civil. I suppose if we are willing to continue to follow the CoC we can forego active deletions of the political forum moving forward. But bear in mind that pruning of this political forum will still commence if necessary.

    None of this
applies to the rest of the Survivalmonkey Forum at all.

Perhaps it's time to recruit new blood, young talent, folks that would giggle at old folks nominal computer skills, poke a few keys and fix things that have needed fixing. I have a couple gamers here at work who are forty years younger than I am, and I go straight to them when I have a computer issue. You don't have to do it all by yourselves. Ask for volunteers. (...as I take a step back) ;)

  10. If everyone was to ignore this member by default, wouldn't that be as good as banning them?

Well Trump won, the Republicans have both houses, the new regime is in place and the battle has begun. Don't have any concept of what the ending will be, but there has been about as much change in the first 7 days in the political and civil servant situation as in any year in the past. We are ridding the Tiger and as individuals all we can do is hang on. The data coming out on COVID 19 alone would be worth a years worth of comments and a major discussion in congress and the press. Don't expect it to happen.

Posted a comment on the Jan 6 event by one of the individuals involved. Major search engines only showed negatives on the event and how they deserved to be punished, so I guess we haven't really had any change in the major media or infrastructure.

    I'm a guest here.

If something I post get shitcanned, well, no problem - I'm here at the owner's sufferance.
Mods keep a board/forum healthy by periodically weeding out the crap.
