I am actually impressed with the action. 2500 or so
overload a battery and roasted chestnuts.
I mean that could have been explosives but that would mean the contact that provided hezbollah pagers in bulk is now a target.
I prefer to think it was a hardware/network exploit.
But that also make you look at your own phone and say .. hmm, what if my government doesn't like me in the future.

But more than likely explosive after seeing some blasts Wonder if they put a charge in a capacitor and did a bit of a hardware/software tweak.

 

The way the present tracking is going down you are 99.9% correct about getting an earful of ka-boom!

I'm trying to figure out how they may have done it.
You would think that at least one of the jokers would have gotten on a plane with one of these pagers and security scanning both xray and chemical sniffers would have hinted at explosives and denied the devices from being taken on board (let alone causing holder to get the old rubber hose and chair technique)
So battery? Did the come up with a special battery chemistry that makes it more explody than heat up and then burst.
It's an interesting puzzle.

Yeah I have failed many lithium batteries and never ever got a bang anywhere remotely like that. Usually I get a hiss and maybe a poof and fire. You wouldn't want it in your pocket. A violent poof is best I've ever gotten.
Some of those videos look like the pager at least had a blasting cap inside it.

 

Maybe undetectable inside the battery and tinfoil wrap!

 

Yeah I'm very sure a normal battery alone doesn't disassemble a pager at supersonic speed.
