A young guy from Texas moves to California and goes to a big departmentstore looking for a job.

The manager says, “Do you have any sales experience?”

The kid says, “Yeah, I was a salesman back home in Texas.”

Well, the boss liked the kid, so he gave him the job. “You start tomorrow.I’ll come down after we close and see how you did.”

His first day on the job was rough but he got through it. After thestore was locked up, the boss came down.

“How many sales did you make today?”

The kid says, “One.”

The boss says, “Just one? Our sales people average 20 or 30 sales a day.How much was the sale for?”

Kid says, “$101,237.64.”

Boss says, “$101,237.64? What did you sell him?”

Kid says, “First I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold him a medium fish hook. Then I sold him a larger fish hook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing, and he said down at the coast, so I told him he was gonna need a boat, so we went down to the boat department, and I sold him that twin engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn’t think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4X4 Blazer.”

The boss said, “A guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a boat and truck?”

Kid says, “No, he came in here to buy a box of tampons for his wife, and I said, ‘Well, since your weekend’s shot, you might as well go fishing.’”

 

A young jackaroo from outback Queensland goes off to university, but halfway through the semester, he has squandered all of his money.

He calls home.

‘Dad,’ he says, ‘you won’t believe what modern education is developing…they actually have a program here in Brisbane that will teach our dog Ol’ Blue how to talk.’

So his father sends the dog and $2,000.

About two-thirds through the semester, the money again runs out. The boy calls home.

‘So how’s Ol’ Blue doing, son?’ his father wants to know.

‘Awesome! Dad, he’s talking up a storm… But you just won’t believe this. They’ve had such good results with talking, they’ve begun to teach the animals how to read.’

‘Read?’ exclaims his father. ‘No kidding! How do we get Ol’ Blue in that program?’

‘Just send $4,500. I’ll get him in the class.’

The money promptly arrives. But our hero has a problem. At the end of the year, his father will find out the dog can neither talk nor read.

So he shoots the dog. When he arrives home at the end of the year, his father is all excited.

‘Where’s Ol’ Blue? I just can’t wait to talk with him, and see him read something!’

‘Dad,’ the boy says, ‘I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Ol’ Blue was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading the Wall Street Journal. Then he suddenly turned to me and asked, ‘So, is your daddy still bonking that little redhead barmaid at the pub?’’

The father groans and whispers, ‘I hope you shot that bastard before he talks to your Mother!’

‘I sure did, Dad!’

‘That’s my boy!’

The kid went on to be a successful lawyer with Albanese’s election team.

Kid Rock would be better served by sticking to his rap crap, than deceptively pontificating on American political history:

The civil rights filibuster that K R is referencing lasted for 60 days, not 75, though it has to be said, even 60 days was not an insignificant delay.

Rock's claim fails to mention that the Democrats who supported that filibuster were Southern Democrats (In states which are now largely Republican)

Rock's claim fails to mention that some 6 Republicans supported the fillibuster, and that Northern Democrats allied with a majority of Republicans defeated the filibuster, and passed the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Rock's claim fails to recognise that on June 19, 1963, Emmanuel Celler, a New York Democrat, introduced H.R. 7152—what would become the US Civil Rights Act of 1964

Rock's claim fails to recognise that a Democrat President (Johnson) supported the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights act, and signed it into law that which was passed with the bipartisan support of both Democrats AND Republicans.



Democrat President Johnson did not stop at the 1964 Civil Rights Act. He also advocated for and signed into law the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

It would behoove a goodly proportion of white Republicans to know factual US political history, than just uncritically swallow some random partisan political crap being regurgitated by some third rate conservative entertainer. Just a thought.

 

Factual American political history is that Johnson was one racist evil son of a bitch, had very little nice to say about blacks except to count on their votes and did more to destroy the black family than any president before or since though Wilson wasn’t too far behind.

It is easy to throw a bit of whataboutism, regards Johnson's personal racism to deflect from Kid Rock's partisan dishonest BS, but whatever bigotry Johnson held or expressed, it has to be said that the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act were signal events in the progressive dismantling of Jim Crow. Unfortunately, Johnson's civil rights and voting rights legacies, are presently being chipped away by MAGA Republicans to disenfranchise non white voters by racial gerrymandering of electoral districting, among other identity politics chicanery.
