I'm 74 in terrible health, living on meds and every day is a bonus, but thankfully so far God has been merciful.
Here's my problem and I'm stymied. The people we counted on to join us in case of SHTF turned out to be flakes and drunks. (And we've known them for years) That leaves just my wife and me.
That means that we may quickly be eliminated and then somebody else enjoys over 25 years of preps, three water sources, a small arsenal and our beloved "safe haven" in the woods.

Obviously opsec is paramount, but some form of solution is needed right quick.

I'm stuck, thank you my friends.

On the bright side, you caught this beforehand.

I'd be grateful for the time you've had and ride it out like a Boss. [chopper]

That's one hell of a situation to be in, but it could be worse I suppose.

Not that I’m an expert but I’ve posted before about going at it mostly alone. I’ve been scumbagged by human beings so many times I can’t count them all. Stockpiling booze or being with others that do should be a giant no no, in my opinion.

I should have mentioned earlier, but I empathize with your situation. I hope folks can figure things out in time and generally wish the best for everyone. I honestly don't think there's a wide range of options here. If I ever make it to 70+ I would definitely be happy to have made it that far, but as things look...perhaps I won't have to be too concerned. Kind of dismal, I suppose. Sorry about that.

About all a Feller can do is to make a try at it, how ever long one can, for as long as one can, and to make such a fight as to make any enemies question their choice to commit to taking you out! The best death is one fighting for your beliefs and everything you hold dear! Make they pay in blood, make that price as high as you are able, and when they find your body, they will find it atop a smokin pile of brass, a spent Rifle next to your body, a spent pistol in one hand and a big razer sharp Bowie in the other, with enemy bodies all around as far as thr eye can see!

    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

I've faced this as well to a certain degree.

The kids I built all this up to defend grew up and are now self-sufficient, far away, or apathetic.

In a few years, I will sell out to a member of the mutual group I had built and go live my last days actually having fun traveling to see cool places and nice people and living in blue collar leisure. Don't chain yourself to an uncaring rock. Your watch is over.

Situations change, you have to shoot a new azimuth and redirect sometimes.

People change , and not always for the better.
I learned a long time ago that ,, sometimes, the people you can count on the most , can not be counted on .
    It's a different breed these days .

Hopefully you can find some help in your AO ,,

That's good thinking guys. I sort of accepted the situation a while back but was hoping our genius Monkeys might come up with someting that I couldn't.

Yes, this is something that we ALL face in the end. People are never totally what we think they are, they change, even family members. They are individuals and have their own way of living in this world even though we have many commonalities. In the end, they are different from us, some more than others. It's just the way it is.

However, this should not reverse or demean what you have accomplished! What you have stored and prepared gives life and who you pass that onto might be totally different from your plan...but not God's. Such is life. Every day is different, new, some better, some worse. Live every day that God gives us as best we can. Walk upright and move forward, even when we are coming to the end of the road. Do good. Stop evil. Help those that can't help themselves.

Anyway, all the best GOG and try not to worry. Keep living as you have done and all will be fine. Things might explode in the coming days, and we will all be needed.

I'm in that same boat - now worry what I can do to assist the grandkids. I'm good for me, but fleeing is no longer an option. I'm good for earthquakes, etc - but a full-on Fall of Empire? I'm a cooked goose.

My kids OTOH, should be able to carry on. I've trained them as best I can and continue to pray that they will prosper, no matter the hand they are dealt.

Nearly everything I have built up is for my two sons, the wife and I have different plans for our golden years, that's why we also bought the boat and spent on fixing it up, when it all goes sideways, we set sail never to return!

Well, I don't have a boat and while this country allows millions of illegals, they will not allow my niece to legally immigrate so... I truly don't know what we will do. It all depends on what happens this November. In my honest opinion, should Trump not win, and I cannot believe they will allow that to happen (they can't!) then I don't think it is worth sticking around here waiting for it all to come apart. It depends if America accepts it or fights it. If they go the easy route, I'll probably pop smoke, sell off everything and go to some country where my money will go farther. I'll probably give away a lot of stuff, more likely sell it cheap and head down the road. Obviously, can't go to Russia now but could put some money there for safe keeping, maybe Poland, Hungary, always been interested in Finland...there are other places in the world that have their heads screwed on right. It all depends on what happens in the next six months of so...and how Americans react.

There have been a number of events through the years that gave us all legitimate concerns, there is nothing to be ashamed of or taken a back.
Government are an unstable bunch and don't know them-selves what they are doing till it's too late. The least informed making the decisions for those better informed, it's sad joke. The poorly educated making decisions for the rest of us.
Just cause your rich don't make you smart. And taking ques form Soros is a clue they are dumber than a brick.
I am 74 in about 2 months and since coved my body has accelerated decline, I hate it.
What concerns me is coming generations being caught up in all this.

It seems that I'm not alone and some of us have similar situations.
I have no choice but to carry on, so maybe this is a good thread to brainstorm a bit for a number of us.
    Thanks for the feedback.

I am 86 now. Was told in 2020 that cancer was stage 4 and could not be operated on. Chemo and radiation has kept me alive but it has slowed down, not got rid of cancer. Wife is 84 and well into Altzheimers. Doctors keep trying to put me in assisted living and wife in nursing home. Last time, Feb, came down to court for "elder abuse" as I couldn't possibly take care of her and we had enough money to pay for care. Judge disagreed so still carrying on at home. Prep is no longer an option. Living as best I can and as long as the Lord wills is all that I can expect. Still eating my prep food, playing in my greenhouse and enjoying life to the fullest that I can. Sometimes look forward to it ending but have a 15 year old dog and a wife well into her problems that give me a good reason to keep up the fight. Most of my prepping friends are gone. Moved to a warmer climate or died. Most younger people just aren't into it. Been a good life and the prepping attitude has been along with God's help a great blessing. Good wife, warm house, enough food, no debt, could be a lot worse off.

Don't have any idea about government. Every level from home owners groups to President and congress have gone totally off the tracks. Local spending is just as out of control as national and everyone wants everything and wants someone else to pay for it. Paid $4,000 for house lot that is now taxed at $120 K and taxes on place went from $400 to $6,000. There are "exemptions" for elderly, but I have too much in savings to qualify. The powers that be are just into raising money for the "towns" needs and it just goes up the line. As the old French king said, the flood is coming and I just hope to be dead by that time. If not I will soon be as I am dependent on chem.

It's really sad at what our country has turned into ,,, I wasn't alive then,, but I believe that the best times may have been the 40s after WW11 ,,, seems folks then at least cared for our country. I know times were still hard ,, but I'd sure like to send some of these kids today back there,,, hell,,, I'll go with them .

Kind of off subject here a little,, but saw a video of some small town back during those years . The local sheriff was a crooked fella ,, with the economic boom after the war ,, this sheriff was really hard on the Vets,, roughing up the guys ,, overcharging legal fees , bails , etc .
Well , a lot of the towns Vets got together and decided to fix it.
The Vets raided the local National Guard unit ,, confiscated guns , etc ,, and formed their own force. Took over the town ,, and the crooked sheriff and his deputies. The Vets jailed them ,, charged them , and retook their town .
After all was said and done ,, new sheriff and deputies installed ,, the Vets cleaned all the gear they took from the guard unit ,, took it back to the Guard base ,,, and everything was back to a nice little civil town .

Gog and Duane ,, I wish you both all the best ,, my grandpa lived to be 93 ,, he passed about 15 yrs ago ,, he got out of the Army in '39 , was based at Pearl Harbor,, I surely did love hearing his stories of those days ,, sure did make me appreciate my elders ,, not sure we've done much to preserve what our forefathers have given us ,, if I ever see them again,, not sure they'll be to happy to us .
I pray the good lord watches over you both ,, and makes your days as peaceful as can be .

I'm 54 and the wife is 46, so we are a ways away from throwing in the towel, BUT, we also know that everything we have built ain't worth a dime if we ain't alive to enjoy it, and for us, that means actually enjoying it while we can!
Buying the boat is an insurance policy, it allows us to pull up stakes and leave should that day ever come, and if it doesn't, hell, we sure do enjoy the hell out of our investment, and we have the coolest live aboard any one could want! If TEOTWAWKI happens, so be it, we will hopefully be able to make it to the boat and sail off to some place where being American is still a good thing, where American dollars are still welcome, and maybe we drop anchor there, maybe not! In the mean time, party on!

I'm just a kid of 66, but I know what you mean. No one else in my family is into Prepping and they think I'm strange, loveable but strange. This country is going down the drain, and I'm glad that I was able to live during the "normal" years of the late 20th Century. The year 2000 was the turning point! I remember when people looked forward to a brighter future, but not anymore. Instead of the Jetsons and flying cars, we get Blade Runner and Soylent Green. As a prepper, I have long believed that you should be able to destroy your preps when it looks like you are going to lose it all to someone else. You can use fire, explosives, water or well-placed rifle bullets to destroy all of the food, fuel, generators, arms, ammo, well pump, etc. and die fighting (cause they are going to kill you anyway). Let them have the land, and hopefully they will have just enough room to bury their dead!
