Not a bad choice of steel, but not as good as an old leaf spring, especially those made pre 1970's! My biggest issue with saw blades is thickness, or lack there of, where a leaf spring gives you plenty, depending on what it came off of and how heavy duty it may be! I can see a good fillet knife being a super handy and useful blade from a saw blade, NOBODY makes any good fillet knives anymore, so that would be high on my list of needed knives to make!
I posted the video as a demonstration of what is possible, with a few tools, and a little knowledge and some crafting skills...it's knowledge and skills that may be handy, even profitable when one can't simply go to a store and buy a knife manufactured cheaply in some 3rd world sweat shop.
It helps t know something about the material your working with. For instance some saw blades especially those used in cutting steel or brick often have a tempered edge or a different metal on the saw face that is harder than the rest of the blade to prevent breakage. Dad had several of these blades we repurposed for cutting cement sacks and form stakes. They got loaned and lost but dad had lots of them to work with. I might remove the teeth by grinding but leave the hardened material for use.
Not converting an old pruning saw blade into something else, but refurbishing it back to useful functionality.
