    Sigh - language warning.

I hope I'm not on an FBI listing for watching.

I graduated HS in 1970. I was jealous of the folks that had the money for college (deferment) or had the dough to live in Canada. I went into the USAF after losing a pissing contest with the a**holes down at the Draft board.

Told my wife if the draft started up again, we would send our kids elsewhere.

My Dad and Uncle both joined up for WWII. Uncle went to the ETO, two PH and some tin left in his gut from Anzio...
Dad went to the PTO. Both dodged bullets for over 3 years.

In 1950, the F'ers drafted them both for RoK. This, as my dad pointed out repeatedly, while paid Reserves "sat on their asses". No love for the Big Army as I was growing up.
Uncle went to D-M AFB to drive a fire truck and Dad was wise to the Big Army and landed at Ft Ord punching dog tags.
Everyone else in his group at the repple-depot got shipped to Korea.
Happy to say, that's why I'm here to day.

Liberal kids don't want to join the military because they hate the whole idea.

Conservative kids don't want to join the military because the kids ahead of them come back talking about the Woke culture, anti-white racism in leadership, and a pervasive rape culture by leadership of reports both direct and indirect. That's what I hear from REMF type Army vets in their 20s, anyway.

Same old same old from a tetchy same old. When push comes to shove, women will be drafted; perhaps not immediately in a future conflict, but certainly when the nation has its back against the wall.

The women will do what women did in World War1 and World War2 in supporting the soldiery at the sharp end of war. It is probable that more women will find themselves closer to the sharp end in the same way that some nurses and pilots came to in WW2, and other female service personnel had, in later conflicts.

If things get desperate enough, Mr Potty Mouth's trans son /daughter will also be drafted; and even he (Mr Potty Mouth) may find himself drafted into the American equivalent of the WW2 Volkssturm Volkssturm - Wikipedia, given a Panzer Faust and an arm band, [IMG] and ordered to do his duty. Though it is also quite possible Mr P.M. might find an obliging physician for a bone spurs chit.

I think Mr P.M. could have been a competitive auditioner for the role of Bert Wagner, played by Eddie Foy Jnr in the telemovie 'The Rear Guard'.

Ah yes, the good ol' Emu War...it regularly gets an airing. Way before my time.

The Battle of Brisbane was much closer to my time, but even then, I wasn't even a twinkle in my dad's eye...he was just a 11 year old kid dodging bombs dropped during Allied air raids in WW2 Germany.

Now wait a minute... Women want and receive equal rights. This means upon entry into the military they get the same pay and benefits that the men do. So, why should they not be placed in harm's way? Why should they not be drafted? Why should they not be cannon fodder, bullet stoppers like the rest of us. They get the benefits, so they get the risks.

Now, I understand the gentleman doesn't want his daughter drafted to fight in some foreign war. Who does? I mean, no one wants any child in some stupid foreign war that doesn't have anything to do nor benefits the USA. Also, he is right that our greatest enemy is our own government...and also our greatest adversary, they're strong, effective, and cruel and hold all the cards, not only killing you but ruin your family.

As far as low recruitment, I think @Zimmy post really nailed it. The young folks are not stupid, and they see what has happened to the military and want no part of it. Hell, we have a young almost 18-old friend and while he would love to join for the benefits, he flatly refuses to do so due to the "Woke culture, anti-white racism in leadership." I mean, what is next, Trannies in the women's barracks? More so, the cannon-fodder foreign war policies of the past. All for what? Vietnam, Afghanistan, you name it. For what?

Dad joined the army; he was not drafted. originally his company was sent to the south pacific (none survived), but he had gotten pneumonia and was joined to another company when he recovered, that went to Alaska.
The fighting the Japanese there was over the Aleutian Islands dealing with ground troops and one and two man subs and air defense. He eventually was assigned the crash truck at cold bay and there he took up photography and even helped in developing film for a recon mission. in his later years he told me stories of his experiences then, some he had never shared with any one else.
Dad did not want his sons to go in the service due to his experiences then, but he did not make issue of it while we were kids, but he prayed that we would be spared. Well, his first son was born without a left hand which excluded him, and 2 brothers died as children and when I was registering for the draft, I was a conscientious objector being raised in a Friends Church (Quaker). Not knowing how things worked I figured I might be a Chaplin or some non fighting capacity, but the military said I'd have to go to court to change my status, so I did alternative service for the draft fighting fires for the California Forest Service CDF.
One of my favorite shows is M.A.S.H. not for the comedy but for the circumstances they endured as close to the real thing they could make. The Chaplin was some one I could identify with.

Just my opinion ,, a woman needs not to be on a battlefield,, unless in a nurse / medic role . I was raised to respect and protect the women ,, so having to try and protect them on the battlefield,, could be a distraction ,, and cause more harm than good . Imo.
The safety of my brothers is always on my mind ,, but knowing a woman is there seems like a different obstacle.
Of course when I was in ,, there were no women in combat roles ,, maybe that would change if I had served with them ,, but they weren't to prevalent in a grunt unit ,, only saw a few in the clerical areas .

IMO, making women eligible for the draft may well rev up the country against bullshit foreign wars that don't threaten America specifically.

There is such a big difference between how WWII was fought and all subsequent wars, police actions we have been sucked into since. Rules of engagement, worrying about civilian collateral damage, WOKE agenda, political control not military control, not fighting for complete victory. I saw this in Vietnam first hand, I was gong ho at first but quickly saw what was going on. Of my 3 sons my youngest wanted to join the Army thank god I talked him out of it , his friend Tommy joined fought in Afghanistan and pretty much came back with my attitude. I love my country but hate the government and what too many of our citizens have become.

I have this niece who was rabid liberal and no matter how much I pointed out her wrong way of thinking she was a liberal Bidumb supporter. Saw my sister last weekend and her liberal daughter has done a 180 and now supports Trump 100% could be she has a daughter in a failing government school, inflation is killing them. Her husband is still a flaming liberal and grew up in a household who sucked off the government tit ----maybe there is hope for him

That’s great news, John. I often wonder how couples get along when one is a flaming Lib and the other is conservative. Hopefully, she can straighten him out!

Probably the same as couples when one is a flaming theist evangelical, and the other is a rational non theist. Sometimes there are other attributes that attract, other than political or theological / ideological commitments. ;)
