So, why not collect your piss and save the cost of the "blue stuff"? In the mideval days piss was collected for use in many industries, as was "night soil" (Number 2). This was actually quite lucrative for those collecting it, thus was coined the term "filthy rich"!

You recall correctly, well close enough. It’s technically 32.5% which yields a eutectic solution where the urea and water freeze at the same temperature, about 12 degF.
Urine isn’t very close to DEF, yes they both have urea in them but in urine the concentration is lower and it has additional salts (NaCl, KCl) and various minerals and ions. The SCR catalysts and the NOx sensors don’t much like salt.
