Now might be the time to buy a silencer or silencers

I saw an xm177 silencer today. Had to buy it.
They have been sold out for like 2 years.

 

if you are already on the ATF database for something like a silencer - buying more won't hurt and only help >>> but I'd think twice and then give it more time before drawing attention of ANY GOV. ABCD agencies these days - those 80K IRS agents will need something to do - and surrounding a home and making J6 examples will be part of it

I got my first tax stamp back in like 2007.

The irs will continue to do what they always do, go after republicans and dark skinned people.
If you are in a mostly white blue state like Illinois you're safe. If you are in a Republican state, brown or poor area you gonna get audited.

If any of these states are forced to allow citizens to have silencers, that's going to be 10,000 to tens of thousands per state, depending on the state.
I think there's 8 states that have banned silencers. All 8 will probably open up about the same time if forced by the big court. So you might not be able to get a silencer for years. I bet unsold inventory of all the silencer manufacturers and distributors in the US is less than 10,000 at any given time.

The Illinois silencer ban case appears to be growing legs. The Chance that the Illinois silencer ban is ruled unconstitutional is no longer just a conspiracy theory.
I calculate that if the people of Illinois could own silencers they would soak up 100,000 to 150,000 whisper pickles.
I figure about 2/3 of the US population is allowed to own silencers and they own around 2.6 million silencers as of 2022. From there it's not too hard to figure it out.
If only Illinois ends their prohibition the entire US inventory of silencers sells out within a day aside from maybe some 50bmg stuff.

 

That only took a year from the time I bought it to the time I got it.

 

Don't buy silencers now.

I went and bought a suspicious amount of mostly 22lr ammo from the Walmart yesterday.
I bought some of that cheap supersonic federal 40gr lead round nose ammo, the load number is fm22 I think, cost about 6 and 2/3 cents a shot out the door. The bolt action 22 really loves that sht for some reason. Until I gets threaded for a silencer cheap lead ammo is fine and I have a homeless gemtech mono core and a form1 trash can to try out on it.

 

High probability that state NFA bans will likely be coming to an end.

 

I'm fortunate when I need a moderator I just make one have access to a lathe, trained as tool maker no problem it's considered a health and safety issue here !

But eforms is down, you will have to print and snail mail them.

It doesn't make a difference to me other than when state bans are stuck down I may not be able to get a silencer or tax stamp for years. It looks like the days of state NFA bans are numbered.

 

I hear silencer wait times are at all time lows. During the fudd years when only weirdos had NFA stuff "the good wait times" were 4 to 16 weeks.
I'm about to drink some high end scotch and get on gun broker.

 

I just had a silencer clear that I filed the paperwork for on February 8th - 102 days. The last one was nine months. This BTW was a transfer to my NFA Trust. The new process that prioritizes individual transfers appears to be speeding up NFA Trust transfers as well. Either that or some ATF trainee forgot to check the "Apply unnecessary time delay" box in their internal tracking system.

 

Its the new transfers that are going through fastest. For some reason the NFA isn't clearing the back log. Its almost like they hired a new bunch of inspectors and the inspectors started amassing their own new piles of applications.
90 days is reminiscent of the good old days. Some were being approved in days, weeks, a month or 2 while others waited 8 to 12 months.
