I had my turntable hung from the ceiling on a thick mirror,, so the vibration from the speakers didn't cause my needle to bounce across the album ,,, it worked,,,

 

Interesting .many years ago I picked up nickle masters, that what they would impress the vinel into to actually form the records. I folded them up for years into my steel when forge welding. No telling who made the records or which ones. I think I have a few left.

 

…….interesting it is alleged they are on display in Turkey. There is a similar pair on display at the Infantry Museum at Singleton. Lack of land marks on one projectile can be explained by a worn out MG barrel of which there were many after prolonged fighting. I shot a number of rounds (recovered projectiles) from an XM177 that had been returned to Aus from the RVN and kept on a units books for MANY years (I shot it in 89). It had NO discernible rifling left in the barrel and the projectiles recovered reflected this. A mate’s issued M16/M203 issue (Recon Platoon of an Infantry Btn) was close to a smooth bore (happy tumbling projectiles at 25m) but despite a bunch of new replacement barrels in stores on base they would not replace it as the F88s were about to be issued.

 

Interesting counter hypotheses, I have no reason to doubt your observations, however at best the matter may be considered disputed.
