    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

Thin cloud layer today, but sun is visible through it. Currently halfway to full eclipse status.

I drove to the outskirts of town and the road was deserted. It looks like the locals are staying in while the flower children and moon worshippers were deterred by news of social breakdowns.

    WIN/WIN

we drove to Nashville for the last one and had the only cloud in the sky obscure it at the wrong time. didn't try this time. we got 95% here. You don't need glasses by the way. A piece of cardboard with a bunch of round holes will project the image for you on the ground/wall. No glasses needed in totality.

Been cloudy all day...for once the weather-guessers got it right.

Got too much stuff to do around the house to worry about the eclipse.

Stocked up on T.P as usual, I was in the 89% zone but sadly a lot of rain clouds.
Didn't see much with my welding shield.

Best I could get here on the beach was about 50% coverage with the McViewer.

I'm back! As solar eclipses go it was totally awesome! The skies were clear, and it was everything that I hoped it would be, but...the road-trip sucked! There was a miles long traffic jam in Memphis, Tennessee, that cost us about an hour, but I figured that the eclipse would be worth it...and it was! However, the return trip was a nightmare! It was reported that 35 million people lived in the path of the eclipse and that 35 million would travel to view the eclipse! Apparently, the majority of those people were in NE Arkansas to view the eclipse and ALL of them were trying to get out of NE Arkansas at the SAME time! It took 5 hours to drive the 125 miles to Memphis! Would I do it again? YES! Thankfully I won't have to for 21 years!

SO, did anything happen that had been predicted?

Nah, you can go to Iceland in August of 2026 to see one.
There are eclipses somewhere on the earth like every 6 months.
Australia and New Zealand get one in 2028

Flying is the way to go, both of my driving trips to view eclipses were less than pleasant experiences. Iceland does have an abundance of hot blond women, and Australia and New Zealand supposedly speak English!

Ha, even Aussie's question what new Zealanders are saying, but somehow they communicate after 99 beers or so?
