Yep, disarm them, remove freedom of speech, put a chip in everyone, then remove money so that you control every purchase and listen to the sheep baa. What bothers me is that is happening to the Aussies, New Zealand, Canada and half of the USA is screaming that is what they want. All in the name of security and letting someone else work and support them. You will be happy in your 100 square feet of living space and thank them for the second bowl of gruel if you meet all of their goals. Now in Canada that includes being grateful to the government when you kill yourself on demand. Don't look good.

Does anyone have a different link? I could only read about a paragraph and it wanted me to complete a paid subscription or a 7 day "free trial".

It’s also voluntary and everything that can be accessed with it can also be accessed without.

    Meh, t
Yeppers...the article is just an alt right media click-bait / platform marketing trap for tin foil wearers.

Most Australians have had that kind of unique identifier for decades..

Sure. For now... And, that is the problem. These clowns do the same thing over and over again and of course it is voluntary but then they will hoop and holler that it is a wonderful success and is being fully implemented. The only way you stop this crap is by saying no right at the beginning. No, if, and, or buts - just no. We here learn this the hard way thinking we could compromise or negotiate or let them play their games and we would vote it down later...but there is no later.

I don't think that they gave up all of their guns in Oz, New Zealand and Canada. Australia keeps having periodic gun surrenders, so that must mean that they didn't get all of them! New Zealand had that "assault weapons" ban and didn't get half of guns that they figured the people had! Canada is a lot like the USA, lots of guns went missing when the canoe turned over!

There are I believe more legally held firearms here now than prior to 1996/2002. The Blackmarket has never really been quantifiable. Certainly the criminal element is very well armed.

No shortage of guns here in Australia. I have 9 handguns and about as many long guns. Not real hard to get legally. In some States you can put your handgun into a chassis and effectively turn it into a semi auto short barrel carbine without any special licence or tax stamp.

I never considered the strict firearms laws to be a detriment, not after seeing who came into the country in the last 1/4 century. Imagine if you could still buy them off the trading post lol. Ahhh, those were the days. I bought a Browning 358 lever action in the street outside a gunshop once. The dealer didn't want to give him a fare price so I grabbed it for what was still a song. He threw in two surf rods as well. Crazy gun, elephant gun really but it impressed the mates on the pig hunt. I sold it, somewhere lol. Those were the days. circa 1980

Gotta ask if it is easy to get a license and there is no shortage of guns what was the point of th mandatory gun turn in. Political feel good move?

The info provided by the NSW Police Dept concerning gun owner and firearm licencing requirements is similar, (with some variations) between the Australian States and Territories. Yes, criminals, particularly organised crime persons of interest to the police have illicit access to firearms, but they tend to use them on criminal rivals, rather than the general population. Harming licit civilians is seen as bad for business.

The most stringent conditions are on auto and semi auto firearms.

Am unsurprised at the ignorance of a royal subject, who doesn't know the actual powers of a British Constitutional Monarch in his own country's Constitutional Monarchy..

Here, for your information is a summary of King Chuck III's actual powers.
At the end of the day, King Charles III has no more political or executive power than his late mum's Corgis.

Who cares about King Charles's choice of consorts, or their 'looks'. Camilla is a better wife to Chuck than ding dong Diana was.

Well downunder many have a different opinion, so I'll be careful what I say here as it's not the mainstream perspective.

They eliminated the "useful" guns, the semi-autos and pump shotguns, the weapons allowed now are mostly WWI technology. I believe this was just another logical step in the process of controlling them, -according to a United nations treaty paper on Women's rights put forward by the Australian government- for a future complete disarmament of the civil and police population of Australia. I found that paragraph appended in the back of the treaty, all by itself. That was 20 years ago. It seemed illogical at the time but NZ police did away with theirs, except for special units, due to the gang's habit of drawing them and shooting the cops with their own guns. But special units are spread thin, just look at the Massacre there a couple of years ago, how long did it take for the special unit to get into action? No regular cop in his right mind would have gone towards the sound of the multiple gunshots. 20 years ago I just assumed when the day came to implement the treaty they would have something akin to armed UN types here to keep the peace?

The simple reality is governments don't really care about controlling criminals, they only care about controlling the masses. That should be obvious to any observer by now. This is a bit of rabbit hole but look at the way our police forces are being made ineffectual by woke practices. That could be by design, so people will welcome a strong one world government police force in their streets. My opinions probably should be in a conspiracy sub-forum, it's a lot of dots to connect. But all the guns now held legally here can be confiscated overnight. That's the bottom line.

The UN treaty is almost impossible to hunt down but I found this relating to it.

Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women - Human rights at your fingertips - Human rights at your fingertips

    Then there is this.

There’s been a trend recently where lever release rifles have been introduced to the Australian market. Not quite a semi auto, but not that far off either.
Semi auto handguns are easy to own legally if you are prepared to do the 6 months training and shoot at least 6 times per year.

Assault rifles, machine guns and sub-machine guns are still legally available but you need to become a firearms dealer and meet safe storage requirements. I helped a mate build a core filled besser block room under his house which he turned into a walk in safe, which satisfied the requirements for full auto. He didn’t have any issues getting his Dealer Licence, had an AR10, M1 carbines and SKK rifles and had a select fire MP5 on order (as well as dozens of AR15’s awaiting an export licence from the US). Then he split from his wife and lost it all.
