Several stolen horses are found slaughtered in rural South Miami-Dade, police say (yahoo.com)

"Police say the thieves walked the horses from the stable where they lived near the 12400 block of Southwest 197th Avenue to a property next door. They cut a hole in a chain link fence, and led the animals to an open field, where officers found them “slaughtered for their meat,” Zabaleta said."

One day some free range cattle (a bull 3 cows and a calf) came through the place we were living in the desert and it took a great deal of self discipline to leave them alone while being very hungry ourselves at the time.

    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

Germans, Mexicans, Cavalrymen, Mongolians, probably Apaches. Lord knows who else.

I found it pretty tough and stringy as a steak. If cooked and cut like brisket, it might have been ok. That was in Germany.

Back i the mid-70s there was a 'beef shortage'.

Buddy of mine hosted a BBQ, the meat was horsemeat. Smelled like venison, tasted OK. Low fat if nothing else.

"President Obama last month quietly signed into law a spending bill that restores the American horse-slaughter industry, just a few months after a government investigation said the ban on slaughtering was backfiring."

Washington, DC (May 28, 2021). . . . The Biden Administration’s FY22 Interior budget, released today, is calling for an astounding $35 million increase for the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM’s) Wild Horse and Burro Program, continuing the Trump Administration’s scapegoating of these animals for damage to public lands caused by widespread livestock grazing. The American Wild Horse Campaign (AWHC), criticized the administration’s proposal.

Funny how you neglect to say Trump was just continuing what your boy Obummer was doing and your idiot Bidumb is doing the same thing.

I've seen firsthand the damage these feral horses do to the countryside. The AWHC and the other Calif liberals like Velma Johnston AKA 'Wild Horse Annie' all but destroyed the wildlife in large reaches of Nv. (Mohave Desert)

"Invasive burros, Equua asinus, are often called donkeys and can be found throughout the backcountry in Death Valley. They are an introduced species that originally descended from the African wild ass and are NOT native to North America. This means that Death Valley did not always have burros present. Invasive burro populations grow at approximately 20% per year. These nonnative animals cause damage to native vegetation, spring ecosystems and compete with native wildlife, such as bighorn sheep and desert tortoise, for limited resources."
(Invasive Burros - Death Valley National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov))

BTW - not Trump, Oh-Bah-Mah - but Nixon started this
"In January 1959, Nevada Rep. Walter Baring introduced a bill prohibiting the use of motorized vehicles to hunt wild horses and burros on public lands. The "Wild Horse Annie Act" became Public Law 86-234 on Sept. 8, 1959, but it did not include Annie's recommendation that Congress initiate a program to protect, manage and control wild horses and burros.

By 1971, the population of wild horses on public lands had declined significantly because of the encroachment of man and the impact of mustangers.

In response to public outcry, Congress unanimously passed the “Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act” (Public Law 92-195) to provide for the necessary management, protection and control of wild horses and burros on public lands. President Richard M. Nixon signed the bill into law on December 18, 1971. "
    Still a mess today.

I thought consuming horse meat was banned because horses are used in making certain antibiotics.
Consuming horse meat complicates the use of said antibiotics.
