    Nothing new to report really. The boy is making Jiu Jitsu 2 or so days a week now, whooping me mostly. I’m still running (my secret weapon) about 3 to 4 days a week and lifting in my own way. I’d say my go-to submission is an arm triangle or perhaps what is known as an Americana. I also pull off paper cutters once in awhile. I get caught in leg locks (the boy got me) because I’m not well-schooled in that area yet. Mostly though, if I get an average dude down on the ground he’s in big big trouble! (Not bragging just factual) Great martial art for self-defense.

    Your routine sounds solid and it's great that your boy is making it a regular thing too! It all sounds super dangerous to me. Leg locks can feel sort of lethal on the receiving end.

    Happy February Everyone!
    Yesterday I made a big decision. I decided not to weigh and measure myself every week like I've been doing since June. I like that it held me accountable, but I don't like how much the numbers could affect my mood. This week I've been feeling really good about myself and I don't want to spoil it :eek:
    My focus for this month is more faith and more love. In the spirit of supporting these goals, I even decided to shelve the books that I was reading. Math & Descartes can wait until March or May for now I want to read some light-hearted, feel good books.
    The 1st day of the month just happens to be a rest day, but I still stayed active. I'm doing a 3/4 shimmy challenge this month and I'm trying to figure out a plan for on the go workouts. I've been starting my mornings with yard work and weeding and it feels really good to build these Hügelkultur beds and to see all the rich soil that has developed from past mounds.
    What are your goals for the month of February?

    I had a lot of fun chainsawing and clearing the rest of the trees that fell over earlier this month. I'm so glad that we are finally getting rain. Everything feels so lively and vibrant again.
    I struggled with motivation, but finally got my 40 minute total body workout done. It was the final workout of this "Breakthrough program."
    After that I stumbled over my own feet as I tried to learn something called a "3/4 shimmy on the down." It's okay, I'll try again tomorrow.

    I felt so strong moving these logs across my property. One was so long that I had to break it in half to move it.
    I'm not sure if the caption is visible, but the 10 seconds provided by the self timer was not enough time for me to run over and lift this. So it turned into an action shot.

    This month's workout program is called "Drive" and it was a 30 minute hiit workout. After that I did my daily dancing. Didn't feel like doing anything beyond that. And decided to honor that.
    Because I'll be traveling for the first time in 5 years, it's time for me to think about what kind of workouts I'll do on the go.
    I want to continue to make progress so probably walking and calisthenics.

    I hope you won't judge me for having an evening coffee. I need it because I've been struggling with motivation today. I did work in the yard for 8 hours so that's probably why. I haven't managed to do a full 36 hour fast either these last two weeks. Last week was 30 hours and today I made it 21 hours. I think that's okay.
    Once I have this coffee, I'm going to do my 40 minute upper body workout! Here goes!

    Today is leg day! I'm going to dive in and get the job done. I'm currently reading "My Name is Barbra" Barbra Streisand's autobiography and it's wonderful! The first musical that I ever played in the pit orchestra for was "Funny Girl" and I know the whole score by heart.

    Had a tree that came down on my property Sunday night right after the Super Bowl (didn't know it was a 49ers fan). So now I have this huge Red Oak, that is over 125 years old, laying in the yard. Today, instead of going to the gym, I decided to begin cutting it up. I spent a couple of hours running a chainsaw, a couple of hours stacking firewood, and an hour picking up the small stuff. I'm hoping and praying that I can get out of bed tomorrow! The bad part is that I've JUST begun! Today, I just removed SOME of the smaller branches, nothing over a foot in diameter! A few more days like today and I'll have the SMALL stuff removed...if I survive...and then things get interesting. Don't know what I'm gonna do with the BIG stuff, maybe burn it! However, on a positive note, the barn is rapidly filling with firewood!

    I'm glad that you're okay! This sounds like a massive, giant hardwood tree and that is one hell of a workout to remove all of the material. I don't think you need to worry about the gym for awhile because that's a ton of functional training. Chainsawing, cutting, and stacking is such a workout. I wish I could help you!
    I love that you're seeing the positive side of this situation. Take care of yourself and pace yourself. Maybe have some Epsom salt handy? I love Epsom salt baths after hard work.

    I just swallowed a handful of aspirin and took a long HOT shower. I was able to get out of bed this morning and go to work. This afternoon I helped my sister cut some more wood, load it in the truck and stack it in the barn. We only stopped cause it was about to rain. Maybe I'm tougher than I thought!

    @Wildbilly You are tough and strong! It's impressive that you're able to operate business as usual after doing all this work. It's great that you're working with your sister too. What a great bonding experience. Hope you'll have a great weekend!

    Today I had a good upper body workout. I haven't had much luck with full 36 hour fasts these last 3 weeks. Today I fasted for 18 hours then threw in the towel. I think for now I'm okay with shorter fasts in the 16-18 hour range.

    Today is leg day! The workouts from this month's programming are leaving me sore in a good way.
    Next week I will be thrown out of my normal routine because my bf and I are flying to phase 2 of our visa appointments. I'm praying that everything will go smoothly from the direct flight to the appointments themselves. I haven't flown anywhere since we arrived here back in 2019. I'm very thankful that we found a direct flight. Praying for no delays.

    Finished my total body workout and getting ready to practice dancing. Tomorrow is going to be super busy then we fly out at night. I'm going to try to enjoy the journey. I seriously worry too much and am trying to change that. Everything is working out really well so far.
    Wednesday might be a day that I miss my regularly planned workout, but I know that we will be walking a lot and I'll do some body weight exercises.

    Thank you! We decided not to go. It would have been a 737 max 9 and the crew was grounded a few days ago. Not worth the risk.
