    I stopped watching the NFL years ago when it became the practice of minorities doing their dance in the end zone . Then the BS of taking a knee during the National Anthem. Now I read they will be playing the black national anthem whatever the hell that is prior to the super bowl. Guess the owners have to cater to the 90% racist minority players.

    It must be so intolerable being among a steadily declining tribe that is losing its cultural pre-eminence. Next those heathens will want to stop knee bending coach lead prayer circles at public highschool sports events...oh the horror!

    Yes, went to my first Lions game a couple weekends ago since around 2001.
    We got there very early, no black national anthem, I think that was a thing a few years ago. I understand some sports have become a kind of toxic thing, I don't pay attention to NASCAR any more. I think the virtue signaling overtook the fun I had watching the actual broadcasts. Honestly, all sports were ignored for years in my house.
    The Lions are such a good story for this city and state, they haven't won a playoff game since '91, and they have a real chance of making it to the Super Bowl.

    "Black national anthem to be performed at Super Bowl LVIII"
    this is from Fox news

    There is only one national anthem ---I wish people would boycott the NFL like they have done with Bud light

    They should take a knee during the National Anthem, and thank GOD Almighty for their many blessings!

    There is only one American official national anthem (The Star Spangled Banner) which, in the United States history was of only relatively recent adoption (1931).

    'Lift Every Voice and Sing' is a hymn, with plenty of religious references to god, heaven and so forth, which ought be pleasing to the god believers among you, though I guess it may be displeasing to some who experience white fragility when hearing the hymn.

    Thing is, one of the wonderful things about America is the First Amendment's freedom of speech clause. The NFL is free to perform 'Lift Every Voice and Sing', or refrain from performing that hymn, at its own discretion, and for its own reasons. For those who feel triggered by it, waddle off and have a pee, go to the kitchen and make a cup of coffee, until it has finished playing; or switch the idiot box off entirely: That is everybody's choice.

    Personally, I find that although 'Lift Every Voice and Sing' is overly long, the lyrics are not memory friendly, and it is more like a dirge, than a rousing, unifying patriotic song. I wouldn't waste my time harrumphing about it like you lot....even when the SSB is being sung, (by most), some will be singing, sotto under their breath, 'God Save the South', or 'Dixie' ;)

    My own country's National Anthem (Advance Australia Fair) Is rousing, works well as a march, is mercifully short (if an abbreviated one stanza version of it is performed) and is miles better than its antecedent (God Save The King (or Queen)).

    That said most Australians can remember and sing most of the first stanza:

    " Australians all let us rejoice,
    For we are one and free;
    We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
    Our home is girt by sea;
    Our land abounds in nature’s gifts Of beauty rich and rare;
    In history’s page, let every stage Advance Australia Fair.
    In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair..."

    Few Australians are aware that there is a second stanza, and usually just mumble their way through much of it (sometimes in tune) when the full anthem is performed:

    " Beneath our radiant Southern Cross,
    We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
    To make this Commonwealth of ours
    Renowned of all the lands;
    For those who’ve come across the seas
    We’ve boundless plains to share;
    With courage let us all combine
    To Advance Australia Fair.
    In joyful strains then let us sing,
    Advance Australia Fair... '

    Yeah, I stopped watching Fox a while back, too. Realized they are on the same team as all the other news outlets, and they get everyone watching by ratcheting up the outrage day after day.

    One can sing LOUD and PROUD what one will, I suppose, but singing the Horst Wessel Lied when the US National Anthem is being played might attract the odd glance askance....Horst Wessel and Dixie are both emblematic songs of lost causes that were less than admirable.

    Like I care! That is what has pissed-off Yankees for 159 years and counting, the fact that our only regret is that we lost! 'I'm a Good Old Rebel', says it best, "300,000 Yankees lie stiff in Southern dust...I wish they were 3,000,000 instead of what we got"!

    I stop watching all professional sports due to the Woke crap - all of them. I would also like to know, if these companies, organizations and agency support all this DEI Woke crap then how can they support a 'national' Black anthem. Such a thing does not support inclusion nor equality. It's complete BS, as much so as Asian, Black, Little Green Men history month. Frankly, it's racist, reverse racism.

    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

    Don't watch NFL or other political grandstanding. I also don't watch shows tailored so far from my demographic, as proven by research.

    I just hate to watch rich people cry about the horrible injustices they suffer.

    Wtf is the anthem? Dixie played backwards?

    Edit. I looked it up. It is a pretty hymn but shouldn't be played at the level of the National Anthem.

    Some of the ads are good, and once every 10 years or so I get into the game. Mostly, it's just friends and family getting together and eating while the game is on.
