    Electronic screens of all types!

    Money quote:
    "
Fast forward to post-pandemic times, with teachers reporting that the latest generation—Gen Alpha, also known as “iPad kids”—is aggressive, undisciplined, and regulates emotions poorly in the classroom.
Dr. Clifford Sussman, a psychiatrist specializing in screen addiction, has focused his practice on treating this condition due to increasing need. Especially after the pandemic, “demand for help with this issue exploded,” he told The Epoch Times."

Not sure of this is legit but this might also explain a lot as well. You get to decide for you. I've spent most of my adult life staring at a computer screen (D'oh, worked in IT) and I'm pretty normal. Least ways, I think so. Maybe to the Far Left, not so much.

I blame the utter crap on so-called Social media more than just the screen.

This is a result of parents not disciplining their little brats, allowing them to spend hours on these electronic games. My daughter in law is a kindergarten teacher and encounters this all the time these parents refuse to believe their kids are putting it mildly F-n brats.

unsupervised. Is how I would finish that. Just like my generation of Gen X. These kids are rebellious and strong willed. One of the best things is they question the bullshit spouted by their parents (like all generations do). Now they find conservative theories and I'm so surprised every time I find a passionate if clumsy conservative. Conservatism will not continue as we saw it, but I believe it will continue.

Super interesting article! I have a young friend, a Gen Z. We talk about every day and I am shocked at times how astute he truly is, much more worldly than I was at his age. We talk about the Ukraine and Israel war, Wokeness in his school, history, politics, airplanes (his is an airplane nut!), etc. I even sent him some videos to view and comment from Whatifalthist which can be pretty high-level and thought provoking. He ate them up. Whatifalthist - YouTube

I spoke to him about this article, and he was completely aware of 'screen time' and 'screen fasting' and he said most his friends are also well aware of it. BTW he was diagnosed with ADHD at an early age in school as were most his friends. Long ago, he use to try and use this ADHD as an excuse with me until he found out that I wouldn't accept it. He is 16-years old now and I honestly don't think he has ADHD. However, I have noticed that he becomes obsessed fairly easy and even by his own omission his social skills are not what they should be and I quite agree.

Anyway, my point is these Gen Z's might not be as tuned out as we think. Yeah, they might have their nose glue to the screen way too much and maybe they are not on top of every subject, but they don't have to be - they simply google it and BING-BANG-BOOM! Got the answers and move on. However, social skills are HUGELY important in the world. Imagine Diplomacy without social skills...is that even possible?
