Here are a couple of interesting pistols that are concealable, That may have some utility as backup pistols.

    The Switch Gun:

Switch Gun .22WMR Single Action Folding Revolver

It's not cheap at almost US$500 (plus shipping). It comes with .22 WMR / .22 LR 5 round cylinder options. There are several accessories that can be purchased to augment the fire arm, including additional cylinders, speed loader, sight, holster, tactical sling, all as optional extras above the base price.

There are a number of reviews and You Tube clips featuring this pistol on the inter webs

    The LifeCard® Credit Card Gun:

    LifeCard® Pistol | Trailblazer Firearms

A single shot, single action pistol, available in 22 WMR / 22 LR

These pistols may look like novelty toys, but they are both capable of lethal injury.

Are they very popular in Aussie land? I thought you had tough gun laws after some event or another triggered a mass change in the gun laws and massive "buybacks". Don't think it will be a problem though, it will be a race to see if China or Indanesia will be first to use and protect the resources of Australia and either one of them is capable of maintaining law and order in Aussie land and seem eager to take on the job.

It does indicate how easy it is to make a simple falling block rifle. Hack saw, drill, and files with a couple bolts, a couple springs, and some metal. Ones shown are well made and hi tech, can be greatly simplified and still work. Hyde showed how simple it could be to make a pistol.

A guy that I know has a zip gun that he got from his Father, who was a police officer. It looks like a fountain pen, but is heavy and shoots a .38 Special round. One of just many guns that his Father came across that didn't belong to anyone...so he kept them!

Australia is fighting a losing battle against guns! They still have periodic amnesty gun buy-backs and surrenders for those folks that didn't turn in their guns 25 years ago, Also, they have a lot of smuggling (drugs, people weapons, etc.)!

So as usual, Wildbilly, the honest law abiding citizen is disarmed and the criminals have access to illegal weapons that were either not turned in or brought into the country since the laws were passed. Sounds about right, laws keep law abiding citizens honest and are ignored by the criminals.

Just because you are an honest law-abiding citizen doesn't necessarily mean that you are stupid enough to turn in ALL your guns and ammo. It also doesn't mean that you can't acquire guns and ammo from some" unsavory" characters at some later date...you just have to know someone! My late Father was an honest law-abiding citizen and businessman.. well semi honest and law-abiding (I know for a fact that he didn't pay ALL of his taxes, he bootlegged, made a little shine, bought and sold items that may or may not have been stolen, etc.), but he was a good man...he just knew some bad people. I still see those folks occasionally, and I'm sure that I could get guns, ammo, and other things, if I desired.

Am doubtful that the hand guns featured in the OP are approved for importation into Australia. I have not seen such for sale, and doubt that such items would gain import approval. That is not to say that some haven't been smuggled into OZ illegally, but I have to say, there are probably better underworld backup guns than these novelty pea shooters.

I’m a believer. A bazooka doesn’t always fit into my shorts but I promise what does will ruin you and some of your friends if necessary. Pew pew.

I'm a believer in having a gun, any gun, is better than no gun. I've carried .22 magnum revolvers and .22 semi-auto pistols as back-up guns. So .22 is that it's better than nothing, and I'm eyeball accurate with it. Reports I've heard from people who've been shot with .22 Long Rifle say it won't stop you in your tracks, but it hurts so bad that you'll want to stop getting shot with it.

I don't know, a .22 Magnum is a lot more gun than a .22 LR, and you would have to practice shooting and reloading! This, like any gun, isn't something that you can just slip in your pocket and hope that you will never need. You would need to train for real life situations, especially since this gun is of small caliber, has no sights, is a single shot and slow to reload. Still, it would be a nice little gun to carry to work or such. As the man said, it's better than a sharp stick!

Cousin recently shot a meth head breaking into his truck.
Dumbass meth head charged him and for his efforts received a 22 mag round in the ball of his shoulder.
Said meth head grunted and fell against the fence and stayed there until the police arrived.
Dude had 7 warrants out for him.
Cousin's biggest concern, I want my gun back as I bought this new 20 some odd years ago!

They put 6-rounds in a gun for a reason! Don't ever be too afraid or cheap to use them!

Yeah put the 22lr cylinder in my rough rider revolver and get 40gr bullets doing around 1,000 to 1,100fps.
Put the 22wmr cylinder in with 22wmr ammo and get 40gr bullets doing around 1,400fps.
    Pretty big difference.
