Locks my good man, there are 13 of them between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

 

You guys aren’t getting the fact that the ships are raised to go across Panama then are lowered at the other ocean. The water used to elevate and lower the ships all comes from the rain forest, mostly to the south. The canal is mostly all fresh water. Drought in the rain forest then not enough water to flood the locks.

 

I got that , Glad you discussed it out ,most locks are the same but one in Europe is pumped .

 

Sounds like a major design flaw.
