I have heard cancer cells need sugar to survive, if you can cut out all the sugar you kill cancer. Not sure if theres any truth to it.
I have heard this too and I think there's nothing more motivating. Thank you for mentioning it. My mind was trying to play tricks on me trying to negotiate a "cheat meal" per week, but I'm going to do my best to commit to these 30 days then go from there.
i just got in a half mile run, its 36 degrees out light rain. Usually do a mile but cant afford to get sick haha. Got home and did a good weight set workout. If you ever need good motivation youtube david goggins or ct fletcher. Jocko is a good one as well. Good luck on your journey!
I love bread, POTATOES!!! rice... I read recently that cooking potatoes and rice, the chilling or freezing those foods (and freezing bread) for +24 hours converts the starches to a form that makes them slower to digest; they'll digest in, and provide nutrients to the lower gut. This should allow a moderate intake. I do hope time proves this to be true. I've avoided sugar as much as possible since May and have dropped thirty pounds. This has been particularly trying since I make the desserts for eighty elderly residents at a memory care home. You can do it (avoid sugar), you just need to want to. I think Canola and seed oils are equally as bad as sugar.
Definitely not good for consumption at all. It's a good idea to stick with avocado and olive oil. The tough part (in the U.S.) is finding pure olive oil because the FDA permits companies to use any kind of oil and call it olive oil, which is pretty horrible. Real olive oil exists, I use several types commonly found in stores, but the bigger brands that cost much less are probably a blend of various oils and not worth using.
@Ura-Ki Thank you for sharing your story and experience with me! Great job on making these huge lifestyle changes. I'm so glad that you were able to turn things around. I'm going to start applying your suggestions. I think the only one that I've been completely successful with is cutting out bread, but I still miss it. I've managed to stay away from refined sugar, but I think the hidden artificial sweeteners were still trapping me (they are SO sneaky). I couldn't figure out why I was still having the sugar cravings. Dairy is going to be challenging for me because I love cheese and heavy cream, but I'm willing to give it a shot if it's going to help my overall health. I'm glad that you mentioned dark pork meat. This is one that I haven't considered before. Thanks again!
@Bandit99 This actually sounds very doable for me too. I still sort of miss bread and pasta, but I've managed to stay away from those. I hope you are enjoying lots of good food during the holidays. Thanks for sharing what works well for you.
@Meat Thank you for being supportive and uplifting throughout this journey and reminding me not to get too hung up on scales, numbers, and measurements. The "recovering perfectionist" in me still forgets. I added you and the accountability thread here to the list of blessings that I'm thankful for!
It sounds like you have a very healthy routine and solid habits in place. At this rate you'll definitely reach your goals! Thanks for sharing and keep it up!
Really im just tired of being the friend thats always huffing and puffing when we are all out hunting haha. Its really a mental deal, gotta train your mind before you can get your body trained. It deffinatly gets tested on some days.
That is such a practical form of motivation! Hiking without hunting is already intense. Thanks for motivating me to keep going!
@natshare Yes, I have been cooking my own meals more than ever and this really makes me wish that I had invested a little more time in a veggie garden this year. Luckily, I have a decent farm stand in my neighborhood. The sweeteners and HFCS are in everything! Even spices. I started experimenting with fresh spices from the garden. That's been fun.
It's amazing that you're food is farm to table. I hope you're enjoying Christmas and this happy time! I can relate to you when it comes to alcohol. It always makes me want more of something else. Munchies, junk food, etc so I stay away.
@OldDude49 Yes, you're right about artificial sweeteners. I've been reading studies about them and it's alarming how toxic they are. That is what set me off on this path. Better late than never?
@hot diggity I love the idea of running like wild animals are chasing me. It's so practical and motivating. Thank you for suggesting it!
