    I love rest days. They used to stress me out, but now I take 2 per week and enjoy them. This morning I did a 2nd session of handstand training and it was intense, but also fun.
    This evening I'm going to write a blog post then practice yoga before bed.

    The pandemic zapped the spontaneity right out of me. I've become quite the homebody these last 4 years...
    Usually I would explore as much as possible, volunteer, and make friends, but I haven't done much of that the 4 years that we've lived here. Tonight we went to the night market. It was nice to do something spontaneous. It was full of families with a very laid back island vibe. I enjoyed the open air, some live music, and a delicious green curry. Didn't stay long, but it's all I needed to feel a little more connected.
    I'm very thankful that while current events are very uncertain right now, today happened without incident over here (no protests).
    I did an upper body and core amrap workout and started working on turns (dancing.)

    @Meat I'm so glad that it went well! I know that it's different, but the times that I had Aikido ranking tests I felt like I was floating on cloud 9 for at least a month, afterwards. I hope you're enjoying the energy and a sense of accomplishment.

    Today was my 2nd rest day of the week and it was very productive. I spent the morning deep cleaning the house and the afternoon doing laundry and writing another article. I'm writing a series on food right now.

    I mowed the property this morning and today will be a 30 minute total body boot camp workout. After that I'm going to practice some ballet, dance, then yoga before bed.
    I'm currently working on an article that talks about foods and habits that do not support brain health or survival. What are some foods that you think are beneficial to cut down on? I could probably do with less caffeine.

    Aloha! Today is usually a rest day, but I rested on Tuesday so I'm going to do that upper body workout today.

    Last week I read:
    • "Slow Travel: How to Travel Long-term" by Cindy Coan She provided some really good tips and pointers that I wanted to look into before. It was a good reminder.
    • "Olga Dies Dreaming" by Xochitl Gonzalez This book covers some heavy topics like Puerto Rico and Aids in the 90s. Not comfortable topics. In my book no topics are off the table because I like learning about the whole world and different perspectives.
    • "Happiness Falls" by Angie Kim This is a mystery written by the same author of Miracle Falls. She provides a lot of knowledge about special needs which I appreciate. This book talked about Angelman Syndrome which is a genetic disorder. Her books aren't warm and fuzzy, but they are thought provoking and I learn something new from them.
    • "Foot Yoga: A Guide to Happier, Healthier, Feet" by Becky Watson This was a short Amazon read with some good stretches and it reminded me why it is so important for us to take care of our feet.
    • "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book #1) by J.K. Rowling I didn't read the Harry Potter books because my mom forbid them (Being Catholic and over paranoid about witchcraft. My hometown in WA is kind of a witchy place :ROFLMAO:) I'm so glad that I started reading this series. It is very creative, fun, and definitely a cozy read. I'm looking forward to reading the whole series.
    This week I'm reading:

    • "It" By Stephen King This has been on my list for a long time and I'm happy that I'm finally reading "it."
    • "Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find your path back to better health" by William Davis. Because I need to remember why it's a good idea for me to continue to avoid carbs especially now that the holidays are on their way.
    • "Spice Apothecary: Blending And Using Common Spices for Everyday Health" by Bevin Clare We can all use a little more spice in our lives, right?
    What are you currently reading and listening to? This year I've read 77 / 150 books. I'm not sure if I'll reach that ambitious goal by the end of the year. I may need to revise my goal. Last year my reading goal was 70 books and I read 131.

    My partner and I want to travel long term while we still can. Currently waiting for updated passports in the mail. It turns out that the expedited timeline is probably going to be just normal, but I'm glad that we got the paperwork in. It's going to be a big step because I've pretty much stayed in isolation these last 3 years so I figured that reading about it would help.

    I'm currently writing a fall foraging guide and I'm really bummed that persimmons are not keto friendly. I look forward to persimmon season every year, but I'll have to figure out an alternative.
