Another good move but only 50 or 100 rounds? Hell, that is gone half an hour at the range..

"Furthermore, citizens may be able to receive conditional permits to purchase up to 100 bullets rather than 50, he said."

"If a similar event were to unfold in America, he thinks the militants would have faced "a lot more resistance" due to high U.S. gun ownership rates. "When bad guys know that you're armed, they tend to go to the next house," he said."

Israel eases gun laws to arm 'as many citizens as possible' after terrorist attack
Ben Gvir announced Sunday that any citizen who meets the requirements to carry a weapon will be able to have a telephone interview rather than an in-person interview and be approved to carry within a week.

Additionally, citizens who did not meet specific renewal requirements or purchase a firearm before their license expired will be able to carry. Furthermore, citizens may be able to receive conditional permits to purchase up to 100 bullets rather than 50, he said.

Sounds like a step in the right direction. Wonder what firearms are allowed?

100 bullets? Somehow that just doesn't seem like a lot, wonder how often they can purchase the 100 rounds?

When you know your ammo is extremely limited you make every shot count.
Chances are the enemies are not armed any better, but I wouldn't assume that on a personal level.

They mean 100 CASES of ammo allowed, right? 100 rounds total? Oh hell no.

That's just 3 mags plus 10 singles! That's not even enough ammo to get the barrel warm!

Considering most are serving a mandatory 2 year conscription as young adults, you would expect everyone to have at least one weapon per household. I suspect their gun rules to be changed after these recent events. I for one would be demanding that as a trained soldier!!

if Israel GOV don't want to go ahead and issue decent firearms for the pending invasion from Lebanon (Hezbolla) >>> hopefully they have started the process of moving the warehouse armories forward for eazy access to the citizens ....

mothballed warehouse firearms are probably still OEM packed - need cleaning - something the local residents could manage with some assist ....

not going to be much of any able-bodied left "behind the lines" - older women & men - kids under 16 - disabled

almost a certainty now that the border communities are going to see another terrorist raid - if not another full invasion >>> hate to see those poor SOBs get massacred again without any hope of fighting back ....

Tiny step in the right direction. Israel has mandatory service. IMO, on discharge they should send them home with their service rifle, gear, mags and ammo, and a lock box. When you essentially live in a fortress surrounded by enemies who don't just want what you have, but want you exterminated no matter where you are, all citizens must be trained and ready.

Honestly after the six days war and other actions I would have expected this to already be the rule as opposed to excessive gun control.

Arab culture respects force more than it respects peace. Peace is only favored when they have been defeated and have no other option. Israel will only survive so long as it can overwhelmingly defend itself.

Sounds like a no-brainer to me but who in their right mind would only allow 100 rounds?!? The hell with that! I would imagine most people will not pay attention this small detail, I sure as hell wouldn't...as if they could prove it. I would hope the people will demand all firearm restrictions repealed completely.

........from what I have seen being unpacked a good deal of M16A1, all used. Israel does not have a great deal of NIB gear waiting around to be handed out, they have always shuffled the older issued gear back to second tier/reserve/stored use. Look at all the versions of the M16A1 based carbines they are still fielding in numbers. On the retro M16 forums there are a few "unpackings" of the mods they have made (most often Colt 653s shortened down to the 10.5 - 12 inch range, these have been seen in footage of the events this last week). Then some of the same 653s barrelled with M4 stepped barrels etc. They are known for using up all they have. I have not seen many Galils coming out of storage yet in the imagery from the current events. They were rode hard from the 70s through to the 90s, one arms dealer examined some lots of them that were for sale on the surplus market and noted that they were not worth the trouble given the condition. I don't have a reference handy but lots of cracked receivers and unlike an M16 this is a much more difficult (not viable for profit) fix.

Israel has the rep as being one of the great pack rats of the World - the US even goes to them for old old US military gear parts when they really need something >>> the outsiders that have been allowed into those Negev desert arms depots were even AMAZED - parking lots of Soviet weapons captured in the various wars lined up - warehouses of the WW2 hodge podge of weapons bought up on the surplus market for the 1948 Independence War - number of years ago Israel put a quantity of the WW2 German StG assault rifles on the market - still in the NAZI crates and never issued ....

might not have current military issue to hand out to everyone - but I'm sure they have surplus surplus that would work for home defence duty .....

I would imagine that the reason for the limited ammo to untrained civilians is that should the enemy get ahold of it, it will be used against them.

Well even a puny 50 or 100 rounds may be enough to pop a terrorist or two and take their weapons and as much ammo from them as you can carry.

    Better than a #9 iron, a pipe or a length of 3/4" re-bar.

    Still not much ammo though.
