Turned a little 12' trailer into a mobile fuel dump today and swapped the 3500# axle and springs out for a 5000# axle and springs.

I have had very good luck with the GPI 12V 8gpm pumps. Grabbed a 110AH deep cycle battery to mount on the trailer instead of messing with a truck plug in. DSC00906.JPG

Bolting the new tanks down only requires 2 beers :( DSC00907.JPG

I put a can of seafoam per 100 gallons of diesel. The engines seem to like it. And a 14oz bottle of stabilizer on top of that. I only run real diesel not that palm oil garbage. DSC00908.JPG

Found some hook hangers hangers while getting the new tanks and pumps today, marked down from $34.99 to $7.99 I like them to hang my bug zappers and and camp lanterns on. DSC00909.JPG

Need to get more combustible placards supposed to have one side, front and back on each tank and the hardware bags of the two tanks had exactly 1 placard. DSC00910.JPG

Securely bolted to the trailer floor. When I find my stash of eye bolts I will add a couple nylon straps over the top. Room between the tanks to securely hold six 5 gallon cube gas cans. Going to bolt my 55 gallon drum floor mounts and over the top of the barrel clamps behind each tank and keep a drum of oil on one side and hydraulic on the other other side. And that leaves room for my big metal job box on the end on one side and generator and air compressor on the other side. And brings the total weight on the trailer to around 3800 pounds with 2000ish of that being on the front in the transfer tanks. Pretty well balanced load.

Normally I would use just use one of the dual axle trailers with a pair of 5000 or 6500 pound axles and springs. But I have this little 12' that doesn't get much use.... And thought Heyyyyyyyyyyyy. It won't get much road time the FS I get the Diesel from is only 4.5 miles West of me. So the trailer will only leave the farm for 9 mile round trips when the tanks are dry. SO a single 5k axle is more than sufficient. The two new tanks bring my truck and trailer diesel reserve up to 450 gallons and 1000 gallons in the bulk fixed tank. I only keep 250 gallons of gas in a gravity tank on a stand. Only a couple of generators left that run on gas and Mrs Kraps Truck and My Junk F150. Everything else runs on diesel or propane now.

Looks to me like adding another 200 gallons of diesel reserve and filling them asap is a wise move at this time.

The state nazis frown on moving more than something like 104 gallons in a trailer or in the back of a pickup.
Round here they don't care, I see homemade 500 gallon propane tanks turned into diesel fuel transports all the time for harvest time.
Might be a different story if one were to take it out on I-40.
You better fill it up like now, tomorrow may even be too late. This is the worst stuff to happen in the middle east in about 8 years is happening now.

Can't get Dyed off road diesel at the FS Dump for another 50 Minutes :) They are closed on Sundays. It is actually 119 gallons per separate container of non dyed road diesel. Can put as many 119 gallon or less tanks on a truck or trailer as will fit and be legal so long as you don't go over GVWR and the weight it is plated for. Third paragraph of this sales piece covers why it is legal. LOL just don't need their expensive fuel trailer to do it legally. StackPath The Completely Separate tanks less than 119 gallons is the key to being compliant. 120 gallons is what the DOT considers to be Bulk. AG is exempt up to 499 gallons per container of Dyed Fuel being transported field to field owned by the same farm.

Get ready the wild ride is just getting in motion.

Several make them like that. My 20' and 16' are Rice trailers. This one is one I bought at RK because I didn't feel like driving all the way back home to get a trailer and then 50 miles back to get the pallet of stuff I had bought at Menards. I like them because folding that ramp down gets rid of that big sail drag making MPG eating ramp when its standing up. It is this one Carry-On 6' x 12' Treated Lumber Utility Trailer with Gate - 6x12GW | Rural King the price was around half what is now when I bought it :(

It should be stressed that if you want to stay out of trouble doing something like this BOLT the tanks to the truck bed or trailer floor. If you do get pulled over with one or multiple tanks that is the first thing the cop looks at. The Tank MUST be perm affixed to the transport vehicle or trailer. Straps and Chains don't cut it alone in the eyes of the law.

$746 to fill both tanks at $3.73 Ag tax exempt price :( Better than $4.39 road fuel.........

Good call! I am heading to fill up all my diesel cans now. I'm lucky in that the tractor (my only diesel motor) is really good on diesel but even gas is $4 a gallon here now...not sure what current diesel price but it damn well will go up.

    @Kamp Krap Sweet trailer!

Loaded up every propane tank that were empty (24) 20s, (5) 40s (10) 60s and (2) 100s Fortunately the bulk of the 100s were still full from the tail end of last winter. Maybe foolish and maybe wise time will tell, but I bought a 1500 gallon propane tank today, it gets delivered and set in 3 weeks. I don't care for the thought of the price to fill it but I do like the thought of doubling the propane reserves. I don't like leasing the big tanks as it locks you into one fuel provider. Owning the tank gives choices, drawback to owning VS Leasing is anything that malfunctions on the tank or hardware is on you, and it is a pretty steep up front cost for a new tank.

I like going into winter with every fuel tank of every flavor full. And a couple kegs of hydraulic and Motor Oil untapped in reserve.

And I LOVE Mrs Krap before we left town after filling the propane she says "Do you think we should stop by Larry's Gun Shop and pick up some more .45ACP and Long Colts? And I think we need some more guns!" I am sensing the opportunity to get another Vaquero and another 2020 Python :) But I talked her out of gun shopping to today!!! The 2020 Pythons are not the old Colt Pythons but are still very good and respectable hog legs. The only thing I don't like about the Vaqueros is I have big hands and the factory grips are way too small for me, TG there are a lot of sources for custom over size grips!

LoL My X wife every time I bought a new gun it was like running a Classified Black OP and hoping she didn't notice it. Mrs Krap on the other hand about every 3rd trip to town suggest more guns, more ammo or more guns and ammo! You know it is bad when I start saying "Dear how many guns do we really need!" and she replies "MORE THAN WE HAVE!"

Love the trailer, I don't go through that much fuel to warrant something like that, but nice still.

I've got 10 gallons of off road diesel for my BX, the only diesel I have (other than my truck). I do keep 8 5 gallon cans of ethanol free gas on hand. Since going to the BX I don't go through it that fast anymore, but I will rotate it out in the gas burning cars. I find that ALL of my small engine machines run much better with the ethanol free stuff. I managed to find a local farm coop that has 24 self-service for EF gas and off-road diesel. Unfortunatly I need to get their "coop card" to use the off road diesel. I have an Exxon store that has off-road diesel for the same price as the coop, so it's not too bad. Get the EF gas from the coop (and that's usually around $2.00 per gallon cheaper than the only local chain gas station that has EF free), and my diesel from Exxon store.

I have convinced my wife we need to get some factory ammo for our guns. While I can reload, I feel having some factory rounds on hand is prudent. Now if I can only find some .25-20 round or even brass for reloading.

I must be missing something... I keep wondering why nobody else has asked why you have all the weight in the front?

With it only being a single axle trailer I want to split the weight between the truck axle and the trailer axle. And when it is backed in to the fuel dump shed the hoses will reach fuel holes on the tractors from the front of the trailer. After the oil/hydraulic drums, the job box and the generator and air compressor are put on the weight will be pretty well balanced out and right at 4000ish pounds on the trailer. I do need to swap the fill hole cap and body and the pumps around. So the pumps are at the front of the trailer.......... 3' more reach on the hose matters LOL.

Pretty fortunate to have one of those in the middle of no where FS lots only a 9 mile round trip away. Propane Fill Ups. Kerosene, road diesel, off road diesel, bio diesel and road gas. Among other things.... like real handy to call them and have their spreader come and spread the blood meal, bone meal and lime on the hay fields than for me to mess with it.
