New Mexico governor issues order to suspend open and concealed carry of guns in Albuquerque
SANTA FE, N.M. — New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in response to a spate of gun violence.

The Democratic governor said she expects legal challenges but was compelled to act in response to gun deaths, including the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week.

The firearms suspension, classified as an emergency public health order, applies to open and concealed carry in most public place, from city sidewalks to urban recreational parks.

The restriction is tied to a threshold for violent crime rates currently only met by the Albuquerque area. Police and licensed security guards are exempt from the temporary ban.

Violators could face civil penalties and a fine of up to $5,000, gubernatorial spokeswoman Caroline Sweeney said. The governor wants the order enforced by Albuquerque police, county sheriff’s deputies and state police.

Under the order, residents still can transport guns to some private locations, such as a gun range or gun store, provided the firearm has a trigger lock or some other container or mechanism making it impossible to discharge.

Stupid democrats see no difference between criminals who shoot people and regular gun owner's.
Oh yes I'm sure the criminals will abide by the order. The stupid governor is or was a lawyer so she knows how criminals are one would think.

It really has nothing to do with the guns themselves. It is a hot button power and control issue that gets the Marxist base all moist and fired up.

It did not take long, GOA & FPC should join in, if not struck down it will be used all over using her ban as a precedent.

Group sues after New Mexico governor suspends right to carry guns in Albuquerque in public
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public in and around Albuquerque drew an immediate court challenge from a gun-rights group Saturday, as legal scholars and advocates said they expected.

The National Association for Gun Rights and Foster Haines, a member who lives in Albuquerque, filed documents in U.S. District Court in New Mexico suing Lujan Grisham and seeking an immediate block to the implementation of her order.

The challenge was expected, but even so, the governor’s action Friday was an attempt to “move the debate,” said Jessica Levinson, a law professor at Loyola Marymount’s Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, after Lujan Grisham announced that she was temporarily suspending the right to carry firearms in her state’s largest city and surrounding Bernalillo County.

If the dumb C suspended right to carry in my county I would carry 2 guns.
That means it's probably time to pack something more like a personal defense weapon not just a hand gun. I would probably try to carry my keltec P50 sbr or the "peace carbine".

Actually, she needs to be impeached to show as an example so this never happens again.

Is there a chance that the populace of New Mexico would impeach? I mean, they voted her into that position.

What is happening in New Mexico is worse than impeachment, she is being ignored! o_OThe county Sheriff and the Albuquerque Police Chief are refusing to obey her orders! The worst thing that can happen to a politician, is to become irrelevant, now all she can do is sit at her desk and shuffle papers around! :ROFLMAO:

    clear.
