    Aloha!

I've been very busy in a good way. There are so many pigs digging up my sweet potatoes. I'll have to figure out a more effective system for trapping them. Luckily, I have no use for sweet potatoes and taro these days since I'm still on Keto (over 130 days).

I hardly got any reading done this week so I'll try to read more this upcoming week. My workouts are going well and I feel very strong! I love the way that this lifestyle makes me feel like a bodybuilder without the deprivation. I'm not in competition shape or anything like that, nor do i aspire to, but my muscles are getting stronger than they have ever been.

I had some breakthroughs with hooping yesterday. I faced my fear of shoulder stands and I managed to foot hoop in an elbow stand for the 1st time ever! Video attached. I threw in some Aikido rolls at the end and was happy that I still remember how to do them 13 years later.

What is new and exciting in your world?

Aloha! Hope you're all doing well. Today was my 2nd day of doing 100 situps without stopping. It gives me a nice jolt in the morning. Not sure how long this will last though...

    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

Very inspiring. I couldn't do any of that except maybe the rolls at the end.

    Because I am round now.

I have gotten healthy enough to cut my heart and diabetes meds in half.

Yes. That's exactly what happened. By day 3 my lower back was tight. I could definitely still do the 100 situps, but I'd rather focus on functional core exercises because I need some flexibility...
    That was short lived :ROFLMAO:

Today is rest day. I finished mowing and will do some gentle stretching today, but that's it.

Thank you! The rolls are great. It's good to know that we can fall without breaking.

Congrats on cutting your heart and diabetes meds in half. That's amazing!

Aloha! I've been flying under the radar a bit lately, but doing well and staying active. I started the 3rd tier of the workout program that I'm working on and it's focusing on strength and conditioning. I'm enjoying the quicker pace because last month was all strength.

I think I'm breaking through the plateau that I've been stuck on since April. This week I lost 3 lbs and my measurements are going down too. I think the timing of my meals is making a big difference. I make sure that I workout 3 hours after eating and I have two meals that are 5 hours apart. I do feel more tired because it's an adjustment and I really started training hard with hula hooping. Today was my 20th day of consistent hula hooping.

    I just finished reading:

    • "The Villa" By Rachel Hawkins. It's pretty good. I wanted a little getaway and this story takes place in Orvieto, Italy. It's a suspense type of book kind of on the "chick lit" side of things.
    • "Weight Lifting is a Waste of Time So is Cardio" by John Jaquish. This was decent for the first 3 chapters. I like that he cited his sources, but after that it started to feel like advertising and clickbait. Have any of you heard of the X3 Bar before? This is the first time that I've ever heard of it. Maybe there's something to it and I don't mean to be offensive if you're a believer, but his results don't look natural.
    I'm currently reading:

    • "Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek: to Freedom" By Slawomir Rawicz. This is excellent! Thank you for the recommendation @CraftyMofo. I'm looking forward to find out how he escapes. I can't imagine treking through Siberia.
    • "Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls by Lauren Graham" I wanted to read something funny and light hearted for contrast and this fits the bill. Have any of you watched the series "Parenthood?" I imagine that you probably didn't watch Gilmore Girls, but both series' were really good.
    • "Dirty, Lazy, Keto Dirt Cheap Cookbook" by Stephanie Laska Because I wanted to get some ideas and maybe expand my repertoire of low-carb cooking, but I like to keep things super simple so I'll probably just stick with the meat, cheese, and veggies, but maybe someday I'll feel ambitious enough to try something new.
    • "Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity" by Peter Attia. I haven't started this one yet, but it just became available at my digital library so I'm going to start reading it tonight.
What are you reading, watching, or listening to these days? Hope you're all doing well and taking some time to move.

I'm still going to the gym, haven't seen much improvement but it has only been a month. Maybe by October. I'm currently reading the KJV of the Bible, I started in Sept. of 2022, and I have 12 more pages in the Book of Revelation. At the moment I'm listening to the spin cycle of the washing machine. About the only shows that I watch regularly are re-runs of Star Trek (Original, NG, DS-9, Voyager, and Enterprise).

    Aloha!
We had a keto friendly kitty party where my renter brought her cat over to meet my cats. I had top shelf Maui white whiskey that was super smooth and I was only a little hungover yesterday versus feeling like death. This morning I hooped for 2 hours, but pinched a nerve in my neck / shoulder blade area.

I still did tonight's total body strength and conditioning workout, but couldn't go all out. I also think that I put too many Hawaiian chili peppers in today's stir fry so I'm not feeling great. I think tonight I'm going to head to bed early and hope that my neck will feel better tomorrow.

Great job! I think it's amazing that you're going to the gym. Keep going and don't be discouraged because it's such a good habit and a long term investment. I was feeling discouraged and like I wasn't getting many results either for the past few months and then this month I really started to feel the positive effects. I feel inspired to revisit KJV because it's been awhile. Hope you're having a wonderful summer!

    Labdien Everyone!
I've been staying off of the computer as much as possible, but I want to start checking in again. I finished reading "Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek: to Freedom" By Slawomir Rawicz. I highly recommend it. I read it slowly and really enjoyed it and am glad that most of them survived, but am also sad that it's done.

    I'm currently reading:

    • "Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity" by Peter Attia. This is very good and gives me a lot of hope. I'm thankful that I started creating healthy habits and that there's still a chance for me to prevent life altering diseases.
    • "The Survivalists" by Kashana Cauley. After reading "The Long Walk" this is fairly boring and I don't recommend it yet. Maybe it will change and pick up. They kind of make fun of preppers in this and it's more of a chick-lit kind of book. I'll let you know if my opinion changes.
I'm -20 lbs since February when I went to the doctor and got my full blood panel done. I'm very thankful that these lifestyle changes are paying off.
I'm kind of bummed because the 12-week fitness program that I've been working through ends this next week. I feel like it has helped me to because my fittest and healthiest self. I'm not sure what I'm going to do after that.
I downloaded the Mondly app because I want to learn Latvian. I'm thinking of actually going to Latvia soon or some places in Europe. Which countries are worth seeing? I've never been. I'm not sure if I will be able to get past my dislike for flying. We shall see. Hope you are all doing well.
