It's all fun and games until...
This week I discovered that I'm happiest and I function the best when I'm physically active. I think that even on rest days I will need some active recovery because complete rest and sitting around gives me too much time to think.

Yesterday I did a total body workout and today I start tier #2 of the summer program that I'm working through. I think this tier is going to focus on strength and hypertrophy training. I'm excited!

    What are you working on?

Only took a truck load of yard trash out. First time since I threw out my back. Will likely take two, maybe three loads tomorrow.

I really hope that your back will feel completely healed soon. It's great that you took out a load of trash. That's a workout in itself, isnt it? We did that too this morning. Also had to fill the propane tank and get some drinking water.
I have to say. This is not the neighborhood for lazy people

You can say that again. We are busy!

I waited this long because the back is still sore, but a lot of mobility is back. And moving is better than not. I noticed it felt much better after tai chi. So I keep gently working it. Will get a weightlifting belt for when I have to help move my mom. Any recommendations on a good belt? I only know the old school leather ones from my youth.

I haven't ever used a weightlifting belt before because I haven't started lifting heavy weights(I probably should) like that yet, but I'll do some research and get back to you on that.

Have you ever tried a acupressure mat? It's a mat that you lay on that has all the prickly disks. I think the brand name is Prana mat. But I got a cheap knock off from amazon and it really helped me when I was having issues with my hands, neck, and nerves (too much pulling and yard work.) I've learned to pace myself a little more.

I'll look into the mat, thanks.

Been just stretching out on the carpet. And if a deeper stretch is needed, a foam roller or lacrosse ball.

@Hanzo That was going to be my next suggestion. I really love foam rolling and the lacrosse ball is a life saver. Soaking in Salt water (a beach day or epsom salt bath) might not hurt either. Also, the arnicare gel rub or solonpas or tiger balm or all of the above. Feel better!
It's good that you're stretching and still doing what you can. Some hair of the dog can help, but probably a rest from heavy lifting for awhile.

I’m on a 4/10 schedule until the end of September. I’ll have to adjust things slightly but the 5AM gig is still going to work out thank God.

    Aloha!
I've decided to take a break from stevia and artificial sweeteners and see how I feel. Hopefully it will help. I had a nice cup of black coffee x2 and spent the morning writing homesteading and permaculture articles.

The afternoon was spent clearing some unruly Caliandra plants. People often plant them as ornamentals because they are pretty and have powderpuff blossoms, but the issue is they drop seed so quickly and will take over your entire life  I'm excited because my goals was to be able to easily access the giant avocado tree by my house and we're practically there!

One of the bantam chickens got snatched by an adolescent hawk and I guess that's just life sometimes[chicken]...

    I'm currently reading:

    • "Into the Wild" by John Krakauer. It is very well-written, but a very sad story. I felt very inspired by @Meat's post about walking sticks. I never got to explore the North Cascades, but have heard about Hart's Pass. I have also spent lots of time admiring the Cascades in the distance from the inlet that I grew up by. It made me feel inspired to go on more adventures.
    • "The Case for Keto" by Gary Taubes. I was still struggling with cravings this week and my mind was playing tricks on me tempting me to get biscuits and gravy and coconut shrimp, but I denied it. This book is helping me to stay the course.

What are you reading these days?

Here is the workout that I plan on doing in a few:

Hope you will all have a wonderful week!

Into The Wild is a great book, so-so movie. Sometimes a brother just needs to get away, or a sister.

This is good news for me, because I would much rather read the book than watch the movie. 2 hours to finish a book is a breeze, but a 2 hour long movie? That's such a long time to sit still . It's hard for me to sit still. I'm loving the book and want to visit all the places that are mentioned in it. The folks in it aren't nearly prepared enough though...
