Just a Follow up Post on what happens to Old People… About 4 months ago, while I was in ReHab, i woke up with a detached Retina… Reported it to the nurse, and Doc, but they blew men off, with no treatment. one the day after I graduated from ReHab, AlaskaChick made an Appt. with the Optometrist to figure out what was what going on with my left eye.. Appt. was in three weeks. Went. to the Appt. and he referred me to the Retina Surgeon for the next day. That Doc took one look, and scheduled surgery the next morning.. So then AlaskaChick, then has her fall, with 5 minute blackout, two subduralo hematomas, and a big Traumatic Brain Injury, which gave her headaches, and Double Vision. Two weeks in the hospital, and a Week in ReHab, and she came home. Then at my 6 week follow up, with the Retina Doc, I asked about her Double Vision issue, and he gave me an instant referral to the best NeroOptometrist in the State, but was booked solid for two weeks. So she would drive closing one eye, and limit her trips to only for essentials… She went to the APPT. and two hours later, that Lady Specialist, diagnosed her issue to a Traumatized 4th vision Nerve in her Brain Stem, which may or may not resolve in six months to a year. Then she prescribed Special Prisms, installed on her Driving Glasses, that cured her Double Vision, until her Brain issue gets resolved… OK, then yesterday was my next Retina Doc checkup, and I have another small retina Retina Detachment, again… So this morning I had an “ Oil Change, and Tuneup” in my left eye… So I need to live at least another six weeks, to see if I have one eye or two… Or turn in my Red Walking Stick, for a White Can.. Or just Kick the Bucket from my Terminal Cancer… My Life, YMMV…
I'm sorry that you and AlaskaChick are going through all of this. I'm keeping both of you in my thoughts and prayers. Continue to hang in there.
Hang in there brother , the good lord is keeping ya around for a reason ,, and sometimes that reason is never known to us . My thoughts and prayers go out to you both .

Yup....My guess is God puts us through times such as these for His own Divine Reasons, but also because he knows we're tough enough to take it. Please both of y'all hang in there.

Yikes! I went thru a retina detachment a few years ago. Started with a black spot in corner of left eye, spread until I was totally blind in left eye. Retina specialist here did a day surgery including putting a gas bubble into my eye and had me laying on my stomach for the next 30 days! I got a massage table and special mirror which allowed me to look down from the massage table and see tv and whoever I was talking to (if they stood at the head of the table). After 30 days, still had a part of the bubble in my eye, but it slowly went away. Today, things are good with my vision, but it was the longest 30 days and nights I've ever spent. Glad Alaskachick is doing better. Ya'll hang in there! Kneemail going up for ya.

Lord, BT! You and the Mrs might have to share eyes, for a while! Hoping things work out for both of you. My sister had cataract surgery, and has dealt with double vision, on and off, since about 18 months after the surgery (evidently, it's not uncommon). Gets a set of new prisms, they'll last 2-3 days, then back to the double vision again!
