How do you argue this the CEO saying not going to run out of oil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpQ5wmkxMnY&feature=related
I believe peak oil is not about the last drop, it's about the economics of production.... Matt Simmons responds on the same show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mRLGtTzd8E&feature=relateds
I agree. There is zero chance of running totally through all the oil in the world within any forseeable time. However, I'm convinced that the cost of recovery and refining will slowly (or rapidly, depending on your point of view) force the price to rise so that the "highest and best" use is all that can be hoped for economically. "Highest and best" is not personal transportation, nor probably disposable plastics. Very well could be that fertilizer winds up on top of the heap. Fertiizer will feed both the human and animal populations (think horses) for survival and transport. I can even imagine the return of clipper ships in place of refrigerated cargo air craft and cargo ships. Get your short flying vacation in the Greek Islands while you can, or it will be somewhat longer by sea. (Actually, that would be fun. How many bushels of corn for sea passage?)
