I think the Black & Tan in the Hawkins Room contributed to my good study habits at the Basic School.

 

Not much of a trick. More like a safety device, like the reverse lockout on some vintage cars that blocked the lever from going into reverse without moving a latch.

This one prevents me from hitting the power button to wake up my computer when all I need to do is move the mouse and wait. I just slide the box cutter blade over the switch. This gives my brain time to engage, before hitting the covered power button and having to wait for a lengthy restart.

If I'd upgrade to something newer than Windows 7 it might help, but the machine is still working.
The screen falls off, so I have binder clips down one side. The hinge is also broken, so the bottle caps remind me not to close it.

If you think my computer is bad you should see my car!

 

i've gone to a chrome book because i got tired of updates & upgrades on winblows etc. the chrome book does what i want to do, i don't need heavy computing power anymore, i keep financial transactions online to a bare minimum, preferring in person or phone call. my wife has a laptop she uses for digital photography (hobby) but doesn't go online with it, safer that way.

If there's even a chance that a diesel might have fluid in the cylinder and you're going to crank it over with a glow plug out use a shield. This one was big enough to protect me, but one row of drawers in my tool box got a coolant bath. It hit the cardboard so hard it blew me backward. Looks like it blew out a whole cylinder full in one compression stroke.

 

There are a couple tricks in this mild custom Coleman QL327 that might not jump right out at you.

I have fun working on the old Coleman Q99 generators. When I discovered they could be easily serviced if they were unrolled I started making my own. I figured if one loop was good, two must be better.


I didn't have an extra mica chimney for this one, so I fitted it with Milspec quadrant glass and rails. I've since added a sliding lighting door. Couldn't find a glass shop that could cut one of the curved glasses in half, but we broke one that was close enough.

 

I had a turkey hunter who is a member of the Marine band come out today with a brilliant target system. He found some thick cardboard and stabbed a pair of old drum sticks into it.

 

Similar to my late sister's bowling technique, except she'd get a gutterball every time.
