I hop in and read a bit as I can. Things with Mrs Krap have gone down hill quite a bit. Thought things were going kind of OK today and then her Blood Pressure crashed to 40/32. She was pretty much passed out when we flew into the ER entrance. Spent from around 1pm-8pm getting her BP up and somewhat stable at 74/42 and checked her into the ICU. Not much I can do sitting there and I am more in the way than anything. So I came back home to take care of the dogs and worry. They sedated her pretty heavy due to the massive amount of pain she is having. What they don't know is if the pain is from the Chemo, the Cancer or Something else. Everything I was working on has came to halt so I can take care of her. It is what it is and I am not doing anything that can't wait.

So the plan when I left the hospital is to keep her in the ICU until they can get he heart rate down and her BP up to mid 90s over something and keep it there. And then hold her in a regular room for 2-3 days under observation and on IV Fluids. The last Month has been a wild ride of one health crisis after another for her but nothing as bad as today. I am not going to give up on hoping for the best but there is the nagging voice in the back of the mind reminding to prepare for the worst. There just ain't nothing easy about this whole shitty mess!

Prayers for the both of you. I had a reaction to chemo that was like that. They fine tuned the chemo and it is a lot better now. Was at the hospital so not the stress of emergency room and transport.

ICU called at 5am and said they got her stabilized at 111/60BP and she held there all night. They were moving her to a regular room and want to keep her one more overnight. LOL encouraging me NOT to come down today because she wants out and Doc is pretty sure if I am there she will insist on checking out AMA. Nurse that called said Doc suggested that maybe the cattle escaped and It will take all day to get them back in :) He really wants to make sure she is going to stay stable and wants to have a conversation with the Oncologist about the bucket full of meds he has her on.

Ya, I "really miss" having the excuse that cows, chickens, hogs, gophers, etc, got out and I will not be able to attend your presentation on ingrown toe nails, even if it is required.

I hate it when one Dr doesn't check in with other and you fall between cracks. Each leaves it up to the other, my lifesaver has been a male nurse, I still call him a Corpsman and I ain't going to change. He does smile though when I do it. He has found several "interactions" in my records and that has allowed me to ask silly questions about my blood etc, that have lead to sort of oh sh** reactions from Dr. Never tell on them as it is sort of coloring outside the lines.

I am glad that your wife has stabilized and hope it just requires fine tuning of the chemo. I am doing fairly well and they have given me 18 months of added life so far. They have all kinds of different treatments, but all are worthless without the right Dr to manage. I pray every day that the one I have found, a women from India about 30 by the way, stays healthy and employed where she is, had a bad reaction, very low blood pressure, very high pulse rate, and she got them back to normal and got the chemo balance back under control. She called the next day, a Saturday, and asked how I felt and if I needed anything else. Don't know where she went to school, but she checks heart, lungs, feet pulse, presses on stomach, etc, and asks da** good questions when I have the pre chemo visit, keeps me up to date on blood work, checks in with me during treatment, and when I crashed, beat the crash cart to my side and talked with cardio about everything that was going on. Makes me feel much better about the treatments and the care I am receiving.

Have similar BP issues with 96+ year-old MIL currently in an assisted living facility. She's been on various meds for high BP due to mini strokes over the last 10-15 years. When the docs alter her daily meds rx to "improve things", problems like unusually low BP cause an ambulance trip to the ER.

Add to the fact that she doesn't drink enough water, tending to get dehydrated which then sets into motion other imbalances in metabolism (magnified by the meds?), causing more scrambles to the ER to re-hydrate on a few saline I.V. bags, while remaining under observation for a few days.

The docs did a great job recently at re-tweaking her BP meds so it wouldn't get overly low. It's like night vs. day for her alertness and mobility when things are in balance for her. Now if we can just get her to drinking more water! Keeping her metabolism in balance is like walking a tight rope.

I send my best wishes and prayers for strength and recovery to both you and the Mrs. So many times when there are multiple meds in play, just a small tweak the wrong way in hydration and/or timing of a particular med can set off a cross reaction of not-so-good things. It is a tough and stressful time for both the patient and the surrounding family.

Being in the hospital is no fun. The beds are uncomfortable, they wake you with all kinds of crap in the hallways and checking your vitals every hour. The food sucks, generally there seems to always be one member of the staff that is preoccupied with chit chat with patients or just doesn't have a clue as to what they are supposed to do.

Hope she is home soon and her BP is sorted out and stabilized. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
