Do you take before and after pictures with your garden?

@Gator 45/70 Potatoes are a great garden staple and satisfying to grow. I have 3 different kinds of sweet potatoes growing. Sadly, my harvesters (pigs with those shovel teeth) do a lot more damage to the landscaping, but at least it's good bait. They'll be after my pineapples soon. I can tell and will need to build more deterrents.

I was thrilled to see that houseplants live outdoors here and thrive. This was a before picture so again, it's looking a little wild.
There are crotons, Ti plants, Crinum Lillies (which smell heavenly, but multiply alarmingly fast), Monstera Delicioso, Song of India, and some Areca Palms which are also affectionately known as Betel nut trees (I haven't tried them, but my chickens go bananas for some Betel Nuts.

Probably in you're case a solar powered hot wire fence, not necessarily cheap but extremely effective as pigs learn fast!

 

Usually take photos of the "before" and right after planting, then forget about it until after the harvest it done.

 

@kckndrgn I do the same kind of thing. I think the prep and planting is the most exciting part. As things progress, the weeds come in and I get tired by harvest time.

 

@Gator 45/70 solar powered fencing is a brilliant idea! Thanks for suggesting it. The last time I used electric fencing was in outdoor school to protect our supplies. I have trail cam footage of a pig analyzing my traps and deciding it's not such a good idea, after all. they are pretty smart. I've had the most success when they are scared and stumble into the trap.
Also, I'm about to google it, but can pigs swim?...
Okay, I just googled it and according to National Geographic, pigs are excellent swimmers

Nooo, I think it would be quite difficult. Probably be fun as heck for a young person.

 

@Gator 45/70 It does seem like it could be fun and challenging especially since they don't have much in the neck department.

 

Lol, got dragged once when I was 8/9 years by grabbing one by the tail, Been charged several times, That will get the heart rate up!

 

So tempted to just go to Mexico for a few weeks , another dump last night , That's my 7AM good-morning snow moving / groundhog day view !!!

Who's in , I'm buying a round for sure !

 

@Gator 45/70 Oh my gosh! That sounds intense and I'm so glad that you survived. Pigs are scary. When I caught that last one he was trying to charge and was super angry. I couldn't believe the vertical jump on that beast. I guess chasing tails can be hazardous.

 

@Cruisin Sloth That looks like a winter wonderland! How much longer do you have before the snow will melt? I own a house in Northern Maine, but was thankfully able to turn it into a rental before the long winter started.

@Cruisin Sloth Oh no! That's too long to wait! I know that some gardens do well with a cold snap, but that's a super long cold season.

 

I do miss growing blueberries. They thrived in my hometown in the PNW. I have yet to find a strain that appreciates the humidity.
