What we used to call culture, the sense of belonging to a common society with shared views and a coherent view of cultural values going back for 5,000 years is being questioned and the left insists must be destroyed. While it has had its limits, it has allowed us to exist as a common culture , based on Judeo-Christian and core European values and a legal system that had developed over the period that granted many protections for the individual from both other members of the society and the group as a whole. The problem with the equity etc changes are that major changes must be made in order to allow a new group to achieve its goals. It has to destroy or limit the power of the old group and replace them with a new culture and shared set of values. Somehow the transfer of power and the establishment of a new system is difficult to accept for members of the old group when the basic argument is that we should "trust" them as their system is much better for the individual. The problem is made worse as all the common leftist thinking from Marx to Mao is to be folded into this new perfect society and special rights given to one group due to perceived injustices in the past. It is in this sense not a political movement but as climate change and protect the environment , an attempt to change the total cultural basis of our existing society. To say the least it is disruptive and in some senses has already became a war between competing groups for the very soul and beliefs of the nature of both society and the system of government. Our founders defined our lives when they wrote that as a human being we have specific innate rights just because we exist. Like every other creature on this earth, we may live our lives to the best of our abilities, we may defend and protect that life to the best of our abilities, and we may or may not ever know happiness but that depends upon how much we work at being happy. That freedom to choose our path through life is the real bitch. If you choose poorly, perhaps none of those rights are attained fully but, we still have freedom of choice to change.

Equal treatment under the law is equality. In terms of "equity" maybe go back to the Slavic people for whom the word "slave" came from, then you keep having to go back further and further to find out which people/race were maligned first. Or, you could just put it all behind you and treat everyone with respect as individuals until the act like a turd butt. How is it that the descendants of the 3% of slaves that came to territory that became the US still need special protection and assistance, where the 97% that went elsewhere seem to be doing just dandy fine? Why no simpering outrage in Brazil or the Caribbean islands? Always follow the money and the biggest shakedown is always the wealthiest mark. Who is skimming money and power off the top on all this wealth transfer and you have your answer. Diversity and divide have the same root word. Not a coincidence. America rose to it's greatest height when we sought the melting pot. Now, adopting the greatness that immigrants bring with them is "cultural appropriation". "Equity" is simply another positive word that has been redefined by the left to make "redistribution of wealth by force" sound more palatable.
Being "colorblind" is now considered racist and will get you an all out shaming session in these parts. Seems that treating non white or Asian people as though they can can do anything you can do and be their own success story is racist where treating them like they need your constant assistance is somehow not.
