Having been a Combat Medic for 17 years, 11 combat tours, I have seen hundreds of gun shot wounds from all the various calibers, believe me when I tell you, 9mm and 5.56 don't even compute! The 7.62X51 is Vastly more powerful and the wounds are SERIOUSLY nasty, you generally end up loosing important parts, especially parts that are needed to survive, and the more powerful .30 U.S.1906 or the mighty .300 Win Mag, fuggeddaboutit! Even the puny 7.62X39 is wicked in the right circumstances. point is, Hand Gun Calibers all suck, sure they do damage, but they are mostly survivable. not so much with a rifle round! One of the very worst I ever witnessed was a hunting accident involving a .243 Winchester! The victim had been hit in the mid left torso and the bullet traveled upwards through the chest cavity and neck and exited through the right side top of the head, that little 80 grain soft point literally liquified and emptied the chest cavity and brain with a very large percent of the cranium missing! Needless to say, it was unsurvivable! Seen a 7.62X51 travel the entire length of a tangos leg from his heal, blow clean through the hip joint, and continue up through the torso before exiting through the shoulder, tango died right there next to his AK in a hell of a lot of pain! What the media has no clue about, ( thank god) is the MSR's are not even close to the power of larger hunting rifles, which are themselves designed to kill very large animals quickly and humanely, with several derived from military cartridges! Make no mistake, they want to ban ALL firearms, they are just picking on the most popular! Where their claims are complexly baseless is in the Killing power! I especially love the line about the AR being designed to kill as many as possible, as quickly as possible, something the AR kinda sucks at, especially with Mil Spec ammo!! Now, swap the ammo for "Real" ammo, like hollow points or good bonded core softpoints and that's actually closer to the truth of their lies!
