Seems to me like we are MUCH closer to nuclear war with the Biden administration than we ever were with the Trump administration.

Well, I wasn't too worried before.
But since the bridge from Crimea to Russia got blown up yesterday, the escape route for those russian soldiers on the peninsula was cut off.
So do they fight to the death as their ammo, food, medical supply line is severed or do their commanders fight to save them by going big?

Yes, the bridge allowed them resupply but it was also their route of retreat.

    Troubling.

I was 16 in '62 and can remember the Cuban crisis like it was yesterday. Everything ground to a halt for almost the whole couple of weeks. My Pop worked at Convair, FT. Worth (Lockheed now) then and most all adults had still fresh memories of WWII. Everyone was glued to the radio or tv . I was certainly old enough to read the worry in their faces and actions. Now at 76 and having been through world crisis after world crisis this is the most worried I have been since '62. Not so much for me but for my Grand and Great Grandkids. I understand now when Pop gave me a hug and said it would be OK even though the look on his face and in his eyes said differently. May this one pass just as the other one did. Megalomaniacs playing brinkmanship games with billions of lives is not comforting. Of course I also remember all the many teen girls and boys not wanting "to die a virgin". Unfortunately my girl friend at the time did not subscribe to that belief...........dang it.

While in university, I actually did a paper on the Cuban Missile Crisis and uncovered enough new knowledge to scare the snot out of me. LOL!

Can someone tell me how the hell Putin can call blowing up the Kerch bridge 'an act he described as terrorism.'? Frankly, I am shocked that it hasn't been blown before but my guess is they were waiting for the right time and now that their counter offensive is going well... Yeah, makes sense...but one would think they would have admitted it.

"So do they fight to the death as their ammo, food, medical supply line is severed or do their commanders fight to save them by going big?"
My guess is neither. They will have a valid reason and be given amble opportunity to surrender. Most of the Russian troops don't have their heads or hearts in this fight anyway.

"Anyone who supports the war in Ukraine is supporting the destruction of the world and their own death."
I believe if one basis their decision on facts alone the conclusion comes down to one of 'right vs wrong.' A nation is invaded by a country that is 3X as large in population more than that in geographical size, natural resources, and military might. Furthermore, this nation, Russia, as far back as 1957 and again in 1994 signed, sealed and delivered agreements concerning the sovereignty of Ukraine's borders and Ukraine went so far as to give up its nuclear weapons in good faith.

Last February, Russia invaded with a huge military force and the Ukrainian people rather than submit defended their home and country even when it seemed that they didn't have a chance. They fought and held! They could have bent the knee becoming a puppet state, but they refused and somehow, someway and against all odds they held. To me, this seems pretty clear cut...a no-brainer between right and wrong, black and white. What I have stated above are known facts!

Is there some grand plan of world domination led by Soros and Biden? Possibly. A Global world order is talked openly about now but is still largely unacceptable to not only Americans but the people of the entire world. Hell, even the EU is cracking...

Don't get me wrong, there are things I don't like about how we are supporting Ukraine. My two biggest bitches are:
    1. There no such word as 'charity' in the Constitution - meaning - giving money to other countries or even organizations simply is not allowed. Yeah, even though I totally support the Ukraine I do not agree that our government can give them weapons paid for by taxpayer money. I tell myself to overlook this because the money is spent on a good cause.
    2. I do not think we have enough oversight on how the money is spent. Hopefully, we are giving only weapons and not bags of cash like our Intelligence agencies are known to have done in other countries.

I do not believe these hostilities will escalate to the point of the USA and Russia throwing nuclear weapons at each other. I grant you it is scary, but it is saber rattling. Russia loses everything, to include Ukraine, if they launch even a tactical nuke so nukes are not in the solution set. They know this and we know this. Yes, we will lose also however we will not have a choice because to allow ANY nuclear weapon to be use at ANY time cannot be tolerated if we all are to survive. This is why the entire world will react and Russia knows this.

As far as the Nord #1 and #2 pipelines and the Kerch bridge. I don't know and neither does anyone else. Logic points at different suspects but in war one can take nothing at face value; however, I do think we will know some day...and maybe soon.

"Anyone who supports the war in Ukraine is supporting the destruction of the world and their own death."
But back on point and the above... I am going to chalk this statement up to being passionate about the topic. It's understandable.
However, I will continue to support the war in Ukraine for no other reason than it is the right thing to do. As long as the Ukrainians are willing to fight, I will continue to support them. Should they find a peaceful and acceptable solution, I will support that also.

I realize my opinion is not in agreement with the majority of the folks on the forum; nevertheless, I truly believe, with all my heart, it is the correct decision and to do anything less would demean our nation and put us in the wrong. It would be like standing by and watching someone get murdered rather than trying to help.

Living in Tucson was living at Ground Zero. Big SAC base _ ICBM silos all around.

I remember Dad putting a footlocker in the stn wagon with some food, a couple of pots and a couple of blankets (for a family of 5)
I also remember him screaming at me when I asked "Where would we go?".
He had no clue and the FedGov sure as hell had no clue - and none of us had a plan.

That's when I got into what is now called Bushcrafting/Stone Age living.

I have the 30 days food, comms and water - but no place really good to go and stay warm....

I think a lot of us that grew up in those days are very hyper aware of nuclear threats. I think it spurred a lot of us to think about preparedness and off grid survival.

If it's tactical nuke exchange between them and us ... well then some of us are going to die but most of us will survive, those reliant on supply chains ... not so much.
Now if it is strategic and we get lit up like wargames .. well the monkeys that make it will be better off that 99.9 percent of the population but the struggle is going to be horrendous, your plans are going to be inadequate, but you may make it to the rebuilding.

For me, If I'm at home, when the flashing lights start, I won't need my preps very long as a cold war era primary target is like 6 miles away and I'm close enough down wind of a number of primary/secondary targets.

Now if I'm at the northern compound .. well, the preps up there will last a good while as long as we get springish weather the following year. Guess it depends on how bad Canada gets it as I can smell the fires in Manitoba/Ontario some years I figure that will be the fallout I get there.

But more than likely, I'll be dead one way or another.

Thinking the hitting of the German diplomatic mission was planned to bring Germany into the conflict. Russia says this is all about confronting Nazism in Ukraine, what better way to get the pot stirred up than bring the real, former nazis into the conflict?

At one time Charleston SC I 'm sure was on the Ruskies targets but since the shipyard closed and the fast attack and missile subs are gone I hope we are not ground zero any longer. Interesting How dictators can find ways to come to power and start wars------------Hitler 1933 gains power Riechstag (sp)burning. Putin threatening war over a gas pipeline he says was sabotaged. Archduke Ferdinand murdered-- starts WW I. n September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. To justify the action, Nazi propagandists accused Poland of persecuting ethnic Germans living in Poland. not true

Seems that Putin didn't waste much time in launching missiles into Kyiv after the bridge bombing.
My brother bounced out of Kyiv yesterday. To a small village away from large populations. Good timing. One of the parks near his apartment received new play feature in the form of a hole in the ground.

At least he got fired from his job last week or he'd be walking through that park to get to his old office.

Someone must have a plan for him.

So if you're a billionaire and you build a doomsday bunker you are ok to be a prepper. If you are not a billionaire and you build a doomsday bunker you are just nuts. Its funny how money justifies everything. If you are poor you are crazy. If you are rich you are just eccentric.
