In today's politically correct world it is not OK to be a man. A lot of people are talking about the disappearance of men in America. Gone are the days of hard working men who do the right thing. All that is left are jelly soy boys with man boobs who worry about whether or not you are "fat shaming" someone for being unhealthy and obese. I thought I would start a thread to celebrate men being men. If you are not where you want to be, there is no better time than the present, to get started. It is not just an idea but manliness is in our genes and they crave to do the things that make us men.

One of my favorites. These guys have a lot of good philosophy about what it means to be a man.

Oh, I think your premiss is BullCrap… There are plenty of “Real Men” in the USA… You will not find them in the Night Clubs, or even Bars after 11Pm.. You will find them in Graduate Schools in theEngineering Departments, Science Departments, and in the TRADE Schools, in the “Work-a-World” of the Employed World…

You think that there aren't people, even major news outlets, saying that there's toxic masculinity and it needs to be exterminated? Have you looked out a window in the past 2 years? Perhaps you misread the post. Did you actually click on any of the links? Be honest because its pretty obvious you didn't. But I do want to thank you, and so does Jello, for derailing the thread before it got started.

Don't worry Bruce...it's a sterile stereotypical argument that loopy's floating...(Where are all the real men???) Joe Jackson asked that rhetorical question, with better answers than can be found in this thread...

I suppose one could hide in one's masturbatory man cave, bewailing the sad state of masculinity...or compensate for an insufficiency of conservative testosterone by catching the 'Big Dick Energy' bandwagon...but one has the option of simply just living an authentic life as a human being...instead of conforming to some arbitrary gender stereotype. I don't think loopy has quite got that worked out yet.

Body type, levels of fitness, baldness, beards, and man caves have less than zero to do with being a man. Honesty, integrity, fairness and the drive to better ones self has everything to do with it. The decline in physical labor has indeed led to the majority of the population becoming less than fit, and the real men out there are too busy working to provide a future for their family and don't have the time left over to be a gym rat. It seems like every time someone dreams up a new study, most likely using targeted respondents rather than a true cross section of the population, hucksters are quick to come up with a fast money scheme to cure the "problem", such as the one in the OPs link. Testosterone levels have always dropped in men as they age, along with a zillion other levels.

The hardest working man I ever met was Ken Huneycutt. He was 250 pounds of slobby looking, bald, man boobed, almost toothless old man up the road from me when I was a young teenager. He was up before dawn daily, worked his livestock and fields, drilled wells and installed septic tanks during the day, worked the livestock and farm again after supper, and always seemed happy. He put 3 sons through college and built each of them a house, his wife never worked a day, and he was quick to drop everything to help someone in need. I worked with Mr. Ken some summers, and that old man could out work me easily. To look at him, he resembled Otis the drunk on the Andy Griffith show, but he never drank. His appearance gave the observer the notion that he was weak and flabby but that old man was strong as an ox and had more stamina than anyone I had met before or since, He taught me a lot of things about drilling wells, blowing stumps, running a backhoe, taking care of your tools, but more importantly he taught me the value of hard work, being a good neighbor, and the importance of family. He also loved God and country. never spoke ill of anyone, and had been in WWII, fighting as a Marine at Tarawa before being bayonnetted in the gut. So every time I see some hulking gym rat with a coiffed beard and a man bun (Douche Knot), I don't see a real man but rather someone who spends time on things that aren't important to anyone but themselves.

How perfectly shallow and feckless you are. Thanks for throwing in a bunch of 'not funny' memes about what you think the thread is about. The title of the post (which was supposed to be ironic) is all you got to? Bring back the study? Yeah that is what the post is about, how being a real man doesn't have anything to do with mindless jocks. Nobody clicked on the links and nobody read any of what was there BUT THEN LECTURE ME ON BRINGING BACK THE STUDY. Prejudge much? Project much?

...but thanks for showing me how much I am wasting my time on these forums.

I think your whole comment is BullCrap. You are a mod on these forums? Maybe go out and do something constructive.

    Spoken like a true caveman.

You're wasting your time trying to teach these people to read. They already know everything about everything. Its not so much a discussion as a "yer premisses is bulkrap" and "ugh".

Different Joe Jackson....you must be referring to Michael and Latoya Jackson's dad, Joe Jackson https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/michael-jacksons-sister-latoya-claims-14194316, of whom some accusations of child abuse have been alleged. The British Joe Jackson who wrote and performed the song 'Real Men' is understood to be bisexual. I am unaware of any connection with pederasty on his part...but evidently you seem to know more about that than I. However to be clear, pederasty is a sexual preference of people (male and female), from a range of sexual orientations, including heterosexual.

The subject is man caves...not pederasty...it would seem that you don't really object to topic drift, so long as it's your own drifting. ;)

I think the antifragile schtick is an exercise in semantics...resilience exists on a continuum, and doesn't exclude the prospect of growth and improvement as a consequence of developing and enhancing one's resilience capabilities and resources.

Literacy is not the problem...it's a value judgement as to whether the time and effort spent in examining worthless Youtube clips, and exploring alt right fringe website rabbit holes is worthwhile. In some cases, the effort may be justified, but also, often, it is not.

Apparently, I’ve missed something. Maybe a consequence of blocking demonstrated asshats. I’ll let myself out.

Reading Taleb is time well spent.
