I don't know about that, but they shoot hogs around here, then treat them. All their "patients" end up in a dumpster, so maybe Chicago, where there's a human patient is more realistic training.

It makes sense to practice on hogs (at least to begin with) to gain skill in trauma surgery...mistakes can be learned from in a safe way by the trainee trauma surgeons, and the carcasses dumped from failed procedures without fear of litigation by human survivors or the relatives of humans who die on an OR table. Gunshot wounds represent a relatively narrow range of wound types...shell splinters and other violently avulsive injuries as are typical of landmine casualties are not as readily simulated by simply shooting hogs...nor are they typical of the casualties likely to present in the ER department of a major Hospital in a large urban area.

Burns units are also useful places to learn trauma surgery...they can be found in major hospitals most everywhere in the USA.

Chicago ain't the only place that military trauma surgeons will get useful experience...any place that has a school, a mall, a supermarket, church, synagogue, a street parade or a concert will do...just that lightning sometimes tends to strike more in some places than others...

Who picked the Nylon 66 for the meme? I guess it checks the blocks
for both black rifle and plastic gun. Just don't try to take it apart. ;)
