While typically do the exact opposite of what Biden suggest. I followed his advice this morning. I bought a New 12 gauge shotgun and another 20 gauge. 10 cases of #2 3" Duck Loads 10 cases of Wolf 2 3/4 00 Buck, 4 cases 3" 000 Buck and a bunch of loose boxes of #6 and #7 shot, ten 9 round mags and two 40 round drums.

I have became a real fan of the Rock Island Arms brand of just about everything they make. Prior to today my last Rock Island purchase was four .45acp 1911s ANd yeah yet another pair of 200 .38spl. So the local mom and pop gun shop is well aware of my Rock Island Fetish and sent me a message last night that had gotten a order of RIA shotguns in yesterday morning and that I should come over this morning and take a few of them out back to the range and see how many I wanted to buy LOL.

Ugly, Simple and Highly Functional is pretty standard with RIA guns. Not master pieces of art by any stretch, but very accurate, very durable and very affordable. The Shotguns I played with this morning were no exception.

I ended up buying the VR60 12 gauge and the VR82 20gauge and all the ammo and junk to go with the 12 gauge and few pieces of junk for the 20 like a drum and a couple of bananas for it. I have always been a 20 gauge fan and have stacks of ammo of every 20 gauge variety. I have just always found a 20 gauge works as well as a 12 with a lot less recoil. Found the VR60 to have a low recoil in comparison to other 12 gauges I have fired. Ran 9 rounds through as fast as I could depress the trigger and stayed fairly centered on the target after shot 1. Fired 50 rounds total through it with flawless operation ever round. It breaks down as easy as any other AR style weapon.

VR82 20 gauge is also a AR style shotgun, got wild and shot clay pigeons with it. Pretty certain my old goto side by side 20 is going to see a lot more rack time when Rabbit and Quail season rolls around. Smooth, fast and light weight with no more recoil than any of my other 20s

Sigh also snagged another pair of RIA 1911s they got in yesterday and a few thousand rounds of mixed FMJ/HP ammo, Not sure how I feel about the 10mm in comparison to the .45acp have never owned a 10mm anything until today. The mag I ran through at the range this morning seemed to have a bit more recoil and a bit more punch on the tin plate targets than the .45s. Mrs T5R liked them. I really need to work with her on this extreme gun and ammo fetish she has developed over the last two years....... She was arguing that I should buy two of each shotgun and more 12 gauge shells LOL, she asked me to get her a pair of shoes out of her closet last weekend and I found a whole stash of guns and ammo I didn't even know we had, that she has been secretly buying over the last two years. I think she missed the memo that it is the husbands duty to secretly buy guns and hide them!!! Handed her purse a couple months back and asked what do you have in there Cinder BLOCKS! She pulls out a pair of taurus judges and 4 boxes of long colts!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hehe we are going to have to have a sit down and errrr put all of our guns on the table so we both know exactly how many of what that we have and where they are. Guess there are worse problems to have in a marriage :)

SO now its wait until 10am Tuesday and go pick them up.......... Because would want me to get a new gun and go out and do something stupid with it. Something tells me that this is not exactly what Biden mean when he said buy a shotgun :)

LOL going to see how extreme Mrs T5R wants to get, just ordered a XL18 flame thrower to replace my aging Vulcan, flush the bunnies out of the brush with it and then shoot them with the 3" magnum 000 Buck :)

Honestly I've found the RIA stuff to be pretty good. I've not handled the shotguns you mentioned, but their 1911's are solid for the money, and make a real good base for a builder gun. I've used a few of them for that and they've turned out great. The 10mm cartridge is a lot snappier than the .45ACP and will knock the plates down with vigor. I really love the 10mm, and EDC one fairly often. I special ordered a 200 grain HP mold and while it works good with the .40 S&W, it really comes alive in the10mm.

put aside the "why" and the reasoning behind it - Rittenhouse was just a non-thinking kid >>> but his situation was real enough - one that we alllll could be facing in the future - and the fact that he had a COMBAT firearm saved his life - no doubt about it - made the difference in the key moments of the scenario .....

I believe that it is almost impossible to build a bad 1911...unless that is what you are trying to do! All of the bugs were worked out decades ago, so all you have to do is follow the instructions. Other weapons that are fool-proof include the S&W Double-Action, the Colt .45 Single-Action, and a host of others. About the only time that you will see bad weapons manufactured is when a nation is losing a war, examples are Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan. A lot of weapons made in the final days of the war were unsafe to fire from the start!

Oh it has and can be done. Not sure about now, but back in the 80's-90's the Thompson Auto Ordnance 1911 was a jamomatic out of the box 8 out of 10 times. SA went through a time where folks were complaining of issues with their 1911's, now it's Kimber off and on. Personally I have had very few problems with either of those brands, but I did buy a problematic SA 1911 and cheaply because of it. Throated and polished the feed ramp and barrel and that fixed it along with a new magazine.

Took the new 10mms and the .45s out to my pie pan range this morning. I can see where the 10mm could grow on me :) Don't think I will ever be able to break my wheel gun habit for the daily carry though. Love those little RIA 200s with 38spl on the belt cheap, take a beating and accurate. The thing I like about RIA in general is nothing they make is all that complex out of the box and pretty much affordable for anyone. First 200 I bought was under $200 think they are up to $260 now. The VR60 Shotgun a whopping $460 more after I started adding mags and ammo. $900 for the 1911 errrr a bit much IMO but no complaints about them, still less than a Sig and functions just as well. But the new 10mms yeah they spin the pans on swivels a lot faster than the 45s do and put the flips down with gusto.

Great deals on the wheelguns and the shottys, but they made up for it on your 1911's;) Yeah a couple more boxes down range and don't be surprised if a 10mm finds a home on yer hip...
I tend to be old fashioned when it comes to my firarms a lot of the time. So IMO wheelguns will always have a place. I carry several different pistols/revolvers for EDC depending on where I'm going or what I'm doing. Outside work 99% of the time it's a revolver, esp this time of year simply because I trust them more with the snek shot than I do a semi auto, and as yard/tractor work is a dusty business I prefer the wheelguns. My wife's model 66 is probably one of my favs as it spends more time on my hip than on hers.
The .45ACP is still my favorite carry calibre and will remain so most likely with the 10mm and .357 a very close second. Even though the 9mm will blow a guy's lungs out of his body, it has dropped in my favorites and is only carried when I break out the Browning High Power for the most part. Same goes for the .40 S&W. My 1st love was the BHP, and when chambered in the .40 it really does justice to that cartridge. Oh, you talked me into ordering one of those shotguns to T and E.

Hehe blow lungs out of body hehe lol. LOL wish I didn't have to do the 72 hour wait on the shotguns would have been nice to play with them some more over the weekend.

Might want to grab a couple or a dozen of the Mag for the shotguns. Gun shop didn't have the bananas but Rural King had probably 60 hanging on the wall. Tracking down the kit to modify the mags to hold 12 rounds instead of 9. They RIA Imports Mags made in Turkey. Seem to be good quality.

I have a nice selection of shot guns from when I lived on the east coast. They are not super relevant here, so sold one along with most of my ammo during the height of the summer of firy but mostly peacefully riots that caused over 2 billion dollars in damages.

I aways thought 10mm was cool but when it was time to buy a large frame pistol the only one worth buying was the colt delta elite, but the price was very high. Smith's were unreliable and the glocks blew up, especially when firing their own reloads.
So 1911 in 45acp it was, if there were any other 10mm 1911s out there besides the delta elite I wasn't aware of them. Plus 45 had a much better, cheaper selection of bullets available.

I been rockin the ROCK ISLAND 1911 Double Stacks 10 mm auto now for a few years, DAMN well made, very accurate,, very tough, and very inexpensive! I paid $600 for mine brand new, and got a pile of good quality Para Ord. 16 round mags for it!
I trust this pistol with my life, it's never failed, and likely never will! What's really slick, Rock Island basically took everything that was good with the Para Ord, P-16 and made it even better!
I also have their version of the Winchester Trench 1897, super slick and reliable, and actually as good if not better then the real deal, a little tighter in the receiver, and really good fit and finish!

After watching the trial, which seemed to be the only place one could find the truth, I think the kid behaved quite well under fire and I was pretty mystified at all the commentators who seemed to be suggesting you can only defend yourself if you are not armed better than someone trying to kill you. I personally hope like heck I'm armed better than anyone trying to kill me.

That's kinda the whole point of the 2nd, to be as well armed or better, with out restrictions of any kind!
I want to be able to walk anywhere in this country with my Winchester Lever action slung and my big bad Ruger on the hip and not have a single anti gun looney say so much a boo, I want people to respect me through fear, especially bad guys, they see me and they move along with a quickness!

Tell me one weapon that exists that you trust the government with more than yourself. There is no reason for a government to have better weapons than its people.
