How accurate can a mini14 chambered in 5.56 be

If your bolt goes into battery with a no go gauge you should not use that firearm. Excessive pressures, case separations, ect can and will eventually occur. The field gauge is used to measure overly excessive headspace in the barrel's chamber, and or a worn bolt. If the action closes on the field gauge, the weapon should be pulled out of service until you either set the barrel back and rechamber or replace the barrel with a new one. I've NEVER let a weapon go out the door if its action closes on a no go gauge, let alone a field gauge.

Well my min14 ran that way for about 40 years. In 2018 I got a palmetto state armory upper that would swallow a no go gauge, it shot like shit too.
That's the barrel I sold on gun broker for $20 starting bid and warned buyers head spacing was out and it would shoot 6 inch groups at 50 yards. Now that upper does 7 shot groups that are almost 1 hole at 50 yards with a mid tier Delton barrel.

Not much too see, it's a new style hammer forged stainless 583 series barrel, one of the 0.625'' tapered kinds on an old receiver. No gas block, no sights. It fires in manual mode only.
    It's got a sub 2lb trigger, that probably isn't a good idea.

I don't see that as a problem as long as it still has the proper engagement and since it's yours you know what to expect. I myself have a few "light" triggers that are again, safe but just for me. In customer's rifles I won't set a trigger below 3lb. Honestly, most folks can't tell the difference between a clean 4-5 lb trigger and one set at 3-4lbs. I have a couple of guys that are real shooters and I will set a trigger to their specs, but they are the exception.

A clean 4 to 5lb trigger would be nice. The mini14 factory trigger is a milltastic 5.5 to 6lb with a bunch of creep.

I don't really do much on the mini 14 as a rule, not many come in. I could do it, but these guys are a better option. Fast turn around and have a rep for excellent work. The mini is their thing. They're out of my old stomping grounds-Colorado.

Yeah nothing happens fast on a mini14 on you want to do it right.
I already did my own trigger, no going good back now unless I replaced the hammer, trigger and sear.

Well you might check out their secondary sear spring. That is where most of the heavy pull comes from. Their lightened spring will reduce the trigger pull by a pound at least. You can also add a take up screw pretty easily as well.

Oh yeah I cut a coil off the seer spring. I probably shouldn't have done that. But I can get a fresh spring shipped for like $15 if the trigger is danger soft.

Off the primary or secondary? New spring should be under 10 dollars-at least from my sources.

Got to pay for shipping on top of the price of the spring and I'll probably get 2 if I place an order.
Buy 1, shipping is about $5.
Buy 2, shipping is still $5.
Everyone identifies it as the sear spring.

It also passed the French test. Dropped it several times, in different ways no hammer drop, let it tip over different directions, hammer stayed put. Safety off of course.
That's the main thing I was worried about.
I'm going to say it takes skill to work on a mini. You can't just go buy a several hundred dollar trigger pack that drops in, nope you have to do a trigger job and if you mess it up the hard parts aren't cheap to replace. The barrels don't come head spaced and there's no way to set head space on the barrel outside the receiver. You have 2 bolt choices, ruger and ruger, so that's really just 1.

It does, but not any more than it takes to get a good trigger on the Garand, 30 Carbine, M14 or the BM59. Want a tough trigger job to do? Try the HK series of battle rifles and subguns..
Again, this is true for the majority of rifles out there be it bolt, pump, lever or semi auto actions. The M16/AR15 is one notable exception, and is one reason it's an easy build for home builders. I seriously doubt that most home builders even own headspace gauges let alone have their headspace checked.

I don't think the trigger on an hk could be improved.
You can have the headspace pretty out of spec and the gun won't blow up. My original mini14 barrel would swallow a "no go gauge" probably left the factory that way. Also my cheap psa upper that shipped with its own BCG left the distributor with the ability to deep throat a "no go gauge". And both shot like shit.
Also sizing the brass from the mini14 sucked.

They sure can. I was taught by HK reps and did my 1st ones back in the mid 80's. I can get the 91/93/94 series trigger packs to PSG-1 specs using stock parts. G3/33/53 and SP89/MP5 series will be greatly improved as well but not as good as the semi autos for obvious reasons.
